Position Overview

DTI has an immediate need for a strong SAP PI/PO Middleware Integration Consultant to support a long-term SAP S/4HANA transformation program in New York.

This role will be responsible for understanding, coordinating, and supporting the complex integration landscape between SAP and more than 80 third-party vendors/applications. The consultant will need strong hands-on knowledge of SAP PI/PO middleware and enterprise integration, along with the ability to coordinate effectively with external vendors, SAP functional and technical teams, testing teams, and business stakeholders.

A major focus of this position will be assessing how the S/4HANA transformation impacts existing integrations and ensuring that external vendors and applications are technically and operationally ready for the transition from the current on-premise SAP environment to the future cloud-based S/4HANA landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and coordinate integrations between SAP and 80+ third-party applications/vendors.
• Analyze existing SAP PI/PO interfaces and understand end-to-end data flows between SAP and external systems.
• Assess the impact of the S/4HANA transformation on each third-party application, vendor, interface, and integration dependency.
• Identify changes required to existing integrations as part of the transition from the current SAP environment to S/4HANA.
• Work with internal teams and external vendors to understand integration requirements involving interfaces, APIs, web services, file transfers, and batch processes.
• Identify vendor-side upgrades, remediation activities, configuration changes, or readiness requirements that must be completed before connecting to the new SAP environment.
• Evaluate integration dependencies and potential downstream/upstream impacts associated with S/4HANA changes.
• Coordinate technical activities and timelines across multiple third-party vendors.
• Track vendor dependencies, risks, issues, remediation activities, and overall integration readiness.
• Coordinate integration, system, and end-to-end testing across SAP and external vendor systems.
• Support test strategy and planning, test-case definition, execution coordination, and validation of integration results.
• Participate in defect triage, root-cause analysis, resolution tracking, and retesting of integration defects.
• Ensure that vendors meet technical and testing prerequisites within required project timelines.
• Collaborate with SAP functional, Basis, development, infrastructure, security, testing, and business teams.
• Support cutover planning and integration readiness for the transition to the future S/4HANA environment.
• Assist with post-deployment integration validation, issue resolution, and stabilization.
• Maintain documentation covering interfaces, data flows, dependencies, vendor requirements, testing status, risks, issues, and readiness.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with SAP PI/PO (Process Integration/Process Orchestration).
• Strong understanding of SAP middleware architecture and enterprise application integration.
• Experience supporting integrations between SAP and a large number of third-party applications and external vendors.
• Experience with integration methods including APIs, web services, interfaces, file-based integrations, and scheduled/batch processes.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end data flows and dependencies between SAP and external systems.
• Experience supporting or participating in an SAP S/4HANA implementation, migration, or transformation program.
• Ability to perform integration impact assessments and determine how S/4HANA changes affect existing interfaces and external applications.
• Experience identifying and coordinating vendor-side remediation, upgrades, and technical-readiness activities.
• Strong experience coordinating integration and end-to-end testing across multiple systems and organizations.
• Experience with test planning, test-case development, defect triage, root-cause analysis, and resolution tracking.
• Experience supporting integration cutover and production-readiness activities.
• Strong vendor-management and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple integration dependencies simultaneously.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Ability to travel at least 25%, with flexibility for additional travel based on project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting a large-scale utility SAP transformation or S/4HANA implementation.
• Experience with complex integration landscapes involving numerous external vendors and applications.
• Knowledge of SAP IS-U or utility business processes and their associated integrations.
• Experience transitioning integrations from an on-premise SAP environment to a cloud-based S/4HANA landscape.
• Experience with REST/SOAP services, IDocs, RFC, SFTP/FTP, XML, APIs, and other SAP integration technologies.
• Familiarity with SAP BTP Integration Suite / Cloud Integration is beneficial.
• Experience with integration inventory, interface rationalization, dependency mapping, and readiness tracking.
• Experience supporting SIT, regression testing, UAT, cutover, go-live, and post-production stabilization.

Ideal Candidate

The strongest candidate will bring a combination of deep SAP PI/PO integration expertise + S/4HANA transformation experience + large-scale third-party integration experience + strong vendor coordination skills.

This is not simply a PI/PO development position. The consultant must be capable of looking across a large, interconnected integration landscape, understanding how data moves between SAP and external systems, identifying what must change for S/4HANA, and driving more than 80 vendors toward technical and testing readiness.
