Description:
We are seeking an experienced SAP IS-U FI-CA Functional Analyst to support and enhance SAP solutions across utility customer financial and receivables processes. This role is ideal for a candidate who combines deep SAP Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable (FI-CA) expertise with a strong understanding of accounting and financial processes. The analyst will work closely with business stakeholders, Finance, functional teams, and technical resources to resolve complex production issues, deliver enhancements, and translate business and financial requirements into effective SAP solutions.
The position will play an important role in supporting SAP production operations while helping improve the stability, efficiency, and effectiveness of our FI-CA capabilities.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a functional subject-matter expert for SAP IS-U FI-CA / Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable.
- Provide hands-on functional support for production issues, system enhancements, projects, configuration, and testing.
- Support key FI-CA processes, including:
- Accounts receivable and payable
- Payments and payment runs
- Dunning and collections
- Refund management
- Security deposits
- Write-offs
- Interest
- Installment plans
- Clearing and clearing control
- Analyze complex production issues and work with functional and technical teams to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
- Translate financial, accounting, billing, and business requirements into functional designs and SAP configurations.
- Support high-volume and mass-processing activities within SAP FI-CA.
- Participate throughout the solution lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, configuration, testing, defect resolution, implementation, and production support.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to evaluate and prioritize defects, enhancements, and operational needs.
- Lead and facilitate defect-prioritization discussions, workshops, and working sessions.
- Clearly communicate complex SAP and financial concepts to both business and technical audiences.
- Accounting & Financial Expertise
- A key aspect of this role is understanding how SAP FI-CA processes integrate with broader financial and accounting processes.
- The successful candidate should be comfortable:
- Working with SAP accounting and General Ledger-related processes.
- Understanding and troubleshooting financial code-block mapping.
- Supporting month-end financial processing and related activities.
- Evaluating the accounting impact of SAP defects, configuration changes, and enhancements.
- Partnering effectively with Finance and accounting stakeholders on system-related issues.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- Strong functional experience with SAP FI-CA.
- In-depth knowledge of SAP FI-CA processes and configuration.
- Experience with Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable processes.
- Experience supporting dunning, payments, refunds, and clearing processes.
- Experience supporting SAP production environments, including complex issue and defect analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate complex financial or billing requirements into structured SAP solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across business, Finance, functional, and technical organizations.
- Experience managing stakeholders and facilitating cross-functional discussions.
- SAP IS-U experience and knowledge of integration between FI-CA and related SAP capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- Accounting degree and/or professional accounting certification, such as CPA.
- Experience with SAP General Ledger and accounting integration.
- Experience with SAP financial code-block mapping.
- Experience supporting month-end financial processing.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA.
- SAP HANA reporting experience.
- Product management experience.
- Utility industry and SAP IS-U experience.
- Knowledge of financial controls, audit trails, regulatory or compliance requirements, tax reporting, and data archiving.
What Will Make You Successful:
- You will be successful in this role if you can move comfortably between SAP technology, utility business processes, and accounting.
- We're looking for someone who can investigate a difficult FI-CA production problem, understand its financial implications, work with technical teams on the solution, and then clearly explain the outcome to business and Finance stakeholders.
