SAP IS-Utilities Billing & Invoicing Consultant
We are seeking an experienced SAP IS-Utilities (IS-U) Billing & Invoicing Consultant with strong functional expertise supporting Electricity and Gas utilities for a 2-3year engagement in the NY, CT, Maine area. The candidate should have hands-on experience designing, configuring, implementing, and supporting complex utility billing and invoicing processes.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 8–10 years of SAP IS-Utilities experience, with significant hands-on experience in Billing and Invoicing.
- Strong functional knowledge of Electricity and Gas utility business processes.
- Experience working on SAP IS-U implementations, enhancements, upgrades, and production support.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end Meter-to-Cash (M2C) processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and support SAP IS-U Billing and Invoicing processes for Electricity and Gas.
- Strong understanding of Billing Master Data, including Rate Categories, Rate Types, Rates, Rate Determination, Schemas, Operands, and Price Keys.
- Design and configure complex rate structures and billing schemas for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
- Support periodic, interim, final, back billing, reversal, rebilling, and manual billing scenarios.
- Handle complex billing requirements including TOU (Time-of-Use), tiered/block rates, demand charges, fixed charges, taxes, fees, discounts, and surcharges.
- Support budget/equalized billing, estimated billing, proration, and billing adjustments.
- Strong knowledge of Billing Orders, Billing Documents, Invoicing Documents, Bill Reversals, and Billing Simulation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve billing exceptions, billing errors, and production issues.
- Understand integration between Billing/Invoicing and Device Management, Meter Reading, Customer Service, Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable (FI-CA), and Print/Output processes.
- Work closely with business teams to gather requirements, perform Fit-to-Standard/Fit-Gap analysis, and translate requirements into SAP solutions.
- Prepare functional specifications for enhancements, interfaces, conversions, reports, and custom developments.
- Coordinate with ABAP and integration teams for solution development and defect resolution.
- Support SIT, UAT, regression testing, cutover, go-live, and hypercare activities.
- Analyze billing performance and support high-volume billing/invoicing batch processes.
- Provide production support, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend long-term solutions.
- Develop functional documentation, configuration documents, test scenarios, and knowledge-transfer materials.
Preferred Skills
Experience with SAP S/4HANA Utilities and knowledge of SAP FI-CA, Device Management, AMI/MDM integration, Customer Service, and Output Management is highly desirable.
The candidate should have strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, and be capable of working directly with utility business and IT teams.
