SAP FICO Consultant

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP S/4HANA Finance Transformation & BAU Support

• Support the transformation of finance processes from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, ensuring seamless transition of financial data, reporting, and analytics.
• Understand the existing SAP ECC Finance landscape and support requirements for the S/4HANA transformation.
• Design and implement strategies for migrating SAP Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) processes to SAP S/4HANA, including configuration, enhancements, and process optimization.
• Provide primary support for the existing SAP Finance BAU landscape, ensuring system stability, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.

2. Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Gathering

• Work closely with business users, finance teams, and IT stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into functional specifications and SAP configurations.
• Manage the end-to-end requirements gathering process and ensure business needs are addressed in line with SAP best practices.
• Conduct workshops and discussions with stakeholders to validate requirements and proposed solutions.

3. Solution Design & Configuration

• Support the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP S/4HANA Finance solutions, including:
  • Fixed Assets (FA)
  • Tax
  • General Ledger (GL)
  • Fund Management
  • Project System (PS)
  • Other SAP FI functionalities
• Provide strong functional knowledge of SAP Finance processes and configurations.
• Demonstrate deep knowledge of integration between SAP Finance and other modules, with SAP SD and FI integration being mandatory.
• Understanding of cross-module integrations with SAP MM, HR, PS, and other relevant modules is desirable.
• Ensure solutions align with financial reporting, compliance, and operational requirements.

4. Testing & Validation

• Lead and support testing activities including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Develop test scenarios and scripts based on business and functional requirements.
• Coordinate with business users, technical teams, and other functional consultants to validate solutions.
• Identify and resolve functional issues during testing and implementation.

5. Training & Knowledge Transfer

• Provide guidance and training to key users, functional teams, and business stakeholders on SAP S/4HANA Finance functionalities.
• Prepare training materials and user documentation where required.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer to support teams and end users following implementation or major enhancements.

6. Continuous Improvement & Optimization

• Monitor the SAP Finance landscape and identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
• Support initiatives to streamline finance processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Recommend enhancements to SAP Finance functionality, reporting, integrations, and business processes.
• Support continuous optimization of SAP S/4HANA Finance solutions.

7. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain functional specifications, configuration documents, process documentation, test scripts, and user guides.
• Ensure SAP Finance solutions comply with organizational governance, audit requirements, and applicable financial regulations.
• Ensure appropriate consideration of IFRS and relevant statutory reporting requirements.

8. Collaboration & Team Support

• Work collaboratively with SAP functional consultants, solution architects, developers, integration teams, and business stakeholders.
• Ensure SAP Finance solutions are delivered within agreed timelines, scope, and quality standards.
• Provide functional expertise and guidance to other team members when required.

9. Risk & Issue Management

• Identify potential functional, technical, and operational risks during transformation and BAU activities.
• Propose mitigation strategies and support timely resolution of critical issues.
• Provide regular updates on project progress, issues, risks, dependencies, and resolutions.

Education & Experience

Professional Experience

• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in SAP Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO).
• At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance implementations or transformations.
• Proven experience supporting ECC to S/4HANA migration/transformation projects.
• Strong experience in SAP Finance BAU support within large or complex organizations.
• Experience working as an SAP Finance Consultant on complex transformation and implementation programs.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• SAP S/4HANA Finance certification (FI/CO) is highly mandatory.

Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Finance and Controlling (FI/CO).
• Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA Finance functionalities and the key changes from SAP ECC.
• Hands-on experience in SAP Finance configuration and implementation.
• Strong understanding of SAP SD–FI integration is mandatory.
• Good understanding of cross-module integration with SAP MM, HR, PS, and other SAP modules.
• Knowledge of SAP Fiori for Finance is desirable.
• Knowledge of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and financial reporting is desirable.
• Experience with SAP data migration methodologies and tools, including SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit and/or SAP Data Services.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting, controlling, reporting, and reconciliation processes.
• Good knowledge of financial compliance and IFRS requirements.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in large-scale SAP transformation programs.
• Experience in the aviation, airline, travel, or transportation industry is desirable.
• Familiarity with financial compliance requirements applicable to the UAE and international markets.
• Experience handling both SAP S/4HANA transformation and ongoing BAU support.
