Job Title: Sanitation Operator
Department: Wisconsin - Quality Assurance
Reports to: QA Supervisor

Summary:
The sanitation operator will perform all tasks involved with the sanitation of plant equipment and sanitation of the food manufacturing facility. This involves following standard operating procedures, work instructions and safe work practices in all production plant areas, resulting in quality and efficient sanitation procedures. The sanitation operator will be dedicated to consistent process improvements to ensure compliance with food safety and general safety policies. Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be a self-starter and self-motivated with keen observation skills
- Must be able to work under a timeline and meet that timeline.
- Acts as a problem solver and team player.
- Must become certified forklift.
- Must be able to read and write in English.
- Required to follow and support GMPs and food safety practices.
- Effectively use a personal computer/tablet and associated applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and focus under stressful situations.
Accountability # 1 – (80%) Sanitation and Safety:
- Overall understanding of the sanitation process
- Responsible for understanding the scope of plant sanitation and chemical usage.
- Completes daily SSOP’s for the wet and the dry sides of the plant.
- Understands how to dispense and prepare chemicals to the proper concentrations.
- Responsible for routine cleaning as necessary; and additional cleaning that may be assigned.
- Responsible for informing supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
- Responsible for working with Quality Assurance Manager to ensure food safety is achieved.
- Assists production when needs exist. This may be giving breaks or filling in during absence.
- Logs chemical usage and maintains sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
- Responsible for following all other company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Perform other duties as directed by QA Supervisor.
- Know and follow company Lock-out/Tag-out, HACCP, and GMP procedures.
- Must be familiar with safe machine operations where machinery must be cleaned while running and follow lock out procedures.
- Works safely following company safety programs.
- May need to operate forklift when needed.
- Remove excess material or refuse as directed.
- Weighs and label bins.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Accountability # 2 – (15%) Communication and Reporting of Data:
- Ensures clear and timely communication within department and with other departments to maximize plant sanitation efforts. Briefs incoming sanitation relief of results from soon to be completed shift.
- Communicates with supervision on what tasks need to be done, when they need to be performed, and inventories of equipment needed.
- Must possess the ability to work with supervisors and all coworkers in a respectful, helpful manner.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Documents any equipment that was cleaned and/or sanitized, documents that daily SSOPs are done and at what time the tasks were performed.
- Keeps team abreast of issues or developments identified during routine activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
- Communicates maintenance repairs to the supervisor.
- Understands how to use RedZone to record and retrieve information.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours a shift.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work on top of dryers.
