The Architect will play a critical role in designing and overseeing the implementation of the eLIPSE Licensing, Permitting, and Inspection project.

Responsibilities, Knowledge and Skills:

Business Alignment & Solution Design

• Partner closely with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable Salesforce architecture and design.

• Present viable solution options and design trade-offs to support informed decision-making.

• Ensure existing and future designs align with enterprise architecture standards, data governance, and security policies.

• Consult in the design process leveraging the Public Sector Solutions object model with DOL’s vendor partner to ensure best solution options

End-to-End Solution Architecture

• Coordinate with vendor partner on design and implementation of an integrated Salesforce solution encompassing multiple modules and interfacing with multiple systems.

• Review and refine the overall system architecture, including data flow, integration points, and component interaction across Salesforce, MuleSoft, and connected systems/solutions.

• Ensure consistency and coherence of design across all workstreams and prevent siloed decision-making.

• Review, refine, and build upon Salesforce functional and technical documentation and ensure documentation accounts for best practice architectural standards, performance, flexibility, reliability, scalability, and security.

• Review technical design and provide architecture insight/recommendations with building on the existing solution and proposed feature additions.

• Provide strategic oversight and govern the end-to-end architecture across all components of the eLIPSE solution, ensuring solution designs are scalable, secure, interoperable, and in-compliance with EOTSS standards.

• Articulate and present point of views on Salesforce product releases, roadmap features and their fit for the eLIPSE implementation.

Integration & Data Architecture

• Collaborate with integration and data teams to define and optimize interfaces between Salesforce and other enterprise systems.

• Understand the technical interdependencies and assess the impact of changes on connected systems.

• Guide data modeling, master data management, and synchronization strategies to ensure data quality and consistency across platforms.

• Advise on the use of SOAP API, REST API, and BULK API with Salesforce.

Technical Leadership & Governance

• Manage DOL’s internal Salesforce development team and provide direction and mentorship.

• Develop solution designs and code for compliance with architectural standards and best practices.

• Establish and enforce technical governance, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards.

• Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior developers to maintain high-quality code.

• Review technical team deliverables for compliance with architecture standards, guidelines and leverages best practices.

• Provide governance and best practices/standards supporting the full application implementation lifecycle (design, development, change control, UAT, deployment, and support).

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work in close coordination with other technical and functional workstreams, including external vendor partner to ensure cohesive solution delivery.

• Identify opportunities to optimize architecture, improve performance, and leverage Salesforce platform capabilities effectively.

• Stay current on Salesforce and integration platform releases, advising on enhancements and roadmap impacts.

• Review current implementation configuration approach to identify gaps, risks and recommend improvements and optimization areas, including Custom Code and integrations.

• Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies, Copado, and CI/CD pipelines.

Education and Certification(s):

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Salesforce certifications required; Public Sector Solutions experience preferred.
