Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:
Â
- Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing personalized service to hotel guests.
- Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members.Â
- Prospect, solicit, and grow new and existing accounts to meet or exceed revenue goals in Group SMERF, Group Corporate, LNR/Special Corporate, and Government through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communication.
- Build the hotel’s account base as sales responsibilities transition from the current Marriott-managed sales agreement to on-property DKN sales; develop and maintain the target account list.
- Meet or exceed weekly activity goals for prospecting, outside appointments, and site inspections under the DKN Sales Activity Standards.
- Manage LNR and Special Corporate RFPs and annual pricing season, and partner with Revenue Management on group and account rate strategy.
- Manage sales administration, including proposals, contracts, correspondence, booking reports, rooming lists, group hold reservations, and file maintenance in the hotel’s sales system, so group pace reporting stays accurate.
- Participate in daily business review meetings, weekly revenue meetings, pre-arrival group meetings, and other catering sales related meetings and training as required.
- Prepare segment results, top account updates, and 30-60-90 day outlooks for monthly ownership reporting.
- Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers.
- Attend community/social events and industry meetings.
- Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers.
- Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.Â
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
- Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with hotel rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities.Â
- Professionally represent the hotel at all industry/community functions.
- Participate as a team player with all departments
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.Â

Frequently within the guidelines established by management and to the extent of operating within the Company policies and procedures.

Working Conditions/Environment:
Entire interior and exterior of property, including meeting space. Regular local travel for outside sales calls and community events.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum of three years of hospitality sales experience required, including prospecting and closing new business. Experience with Marriott sales systems preferred. Toledo/Northwest Ohio market knowledge preferred. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to achieve sales goals, experience at a similar size and quality hotel, proactive sales approach; assertive and fast-paced, driven to succeed, track record of developing long term relationships, ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action. Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of various cultural social events including, but not limited to weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and fraternal organization meetings. Dependable. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Proficiency with a sales CRM; Marriott sales platform experience preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, sitting, walking and climbing stairs. Repetitive bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying. Reaching above, at and below shoulder level. Lifting and carrying unassisted up to 50 lbs.Â
