Safety and Training Manager

Reading Bakery Systems | Robesonia, PA

You know manufacturing. You’ve built your career in safety. Now you’re ready to build a program people put into practice.

Reading Bakery Systems designs and manufactures equipment that helps customers around the world produce bakery and snack products. We’re looking for a hands-on Safety and Training Manager who understands the manufacturing floor and knows how to turn good intentions into clear procedures, effective training, and consistent habits.

This is an opportunity to build. You’ll assess what’s in place, close documentation and training gaps, and work alongside department managers to strengthen safety culture across our Pennsylvania operations and Indianapolis manufacturing facility.

RBS has approximately 200 employees in Pennsylvania, 50 in Indiana, and additional remote and global employees. Based in Robesonia, this position reports to the Director, Human Resources and requires regular travel to Indianapolis and our Pennsylvania technology center.

What You’ll Take On

Build a practical safety program. Establish current written programs, usable procedures, organized records, and a reliable system for identifying hazards and completing corrective actions.

Be present where the work happens. Build relationships with employees, coach supervisors, lead investigations, and partner with department managers to make safe work practices part of daily operations.

Make training happen—and make it stick. Identify safety and operational training needs, coordinate qualified outside providers and internal experts, and deliver training within your own expertise. Keep schedules and records organized, verify understanding, and arrange reinforcement when needed. Outside expertise will be especially important as we address initial gaps.

Own workers’ compensation administration. Manage the process from injury reporting through claim closure, coordinating with employees, HR, supervisors, insurers, and medical providers, including return-to-work arrangements.

Help improve how work gets done. Lead assigned projects that improve safety, workplace organization, ergonomics, and consistency. Work with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Maintenance to turn improvements into documented, sustainable practices.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on manufacturing experience followed by a transition into safety leadership.
  • At least five years of manufacturing safety leadership experience, with examples of building or substantially improving a safety program and culture.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA requirements and practical manufacturing hazard controls.
  • Experience creating safety documentation, coordinating and delivering training, and managing workers’ compensation claims.
  • The ability to earn trust on the floor, have direct conversations, and follow through with department leaders.
  • Strong organization and the judgment to know when to bring in specialized expertise.

Manufacturing supervisory experience, multi-site responsibility, professional safety certification, and familiarity with 5S or standardized work are welcome.

What Success Looks Like

Employees understand how to work safely. Supervisors reinforce expectations. Training is documented and applied. Hazards get addressed, corrective actions get closed, and procedures reflect how the work is actually done.

If you’ve helped a manufacturing operation build stronger safety habits—and you’re ready to bring that experience to RBS—we’d like to hear from you.

Apply with your resume. We’d welcome a brief example of a safety or training improvement you helped put into practice.
