Medcor Safety, a subsidiary of Medcor, is seeking an experiencedSafety Professional for a full-time construction project inAbilene, TX. This opportunity involves supporting a large-scale, heavy civil and roadway construction project, with an anticipated duration of six months or longer.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety, particularly in heavy civil, roadway, or infrastructure projects. We're looking for a hands-on safety professional who is comfortable working in the field, building relationships with construction crews, identifying potential hazards, and promoting a proactive safety culture.

What You'll Do
As a Safety Professional, you'll play a key role in maintaining a safe and compliant job site while partnering with project leadership and field personnel.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conduct regular job site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and opportunities for improvement.
Work closely with construction crews, supervisors, and project management to promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
Implement and enforce OSHA regulations, site-specific safety plans, and applicable federal, state, and local safety standards.
Lead and participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and project safety orientations.
Identify potential risks associated with heavy civil construction, roadway operations, equipment, and other high-risk activities.
Document safety observations, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
Review and maintain employee safety training records and required documentation.
Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of preventive measures.
Support the development and implementation of Site-Specific Safety Plans.
Collaborate with project leadership to ensure compliance with general contractor and owner safety requirements.
Build positive working relationships with field personnel while reinforcing a strong culture of safety and accountability.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of5 years of relevant construction safety experience.
OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
Current CPR/First Aid certification.
Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and workplace safety regulations.
Experience conducting job site inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments.
Ability to communicate effectively with construction crews, project leadership, and outside stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate safety documentation and reports.
Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous safety experience on heavy civil, roadway, highway, or infrastructure construction projects.
Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification.
OSHA 500 certification.
Experience supporting large-scale construction projects with multiple contractors and subcontractors.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, field-based position requiring regular movement throughout an operating construction site. Candidates must be able to:
Stand, walk, bend, squat, and climb stairs or ladders throughout the workday.
Navigate uneven terrain and active construction environments.
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Access elevated work platforms when necessary.
Occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Perform essential safety inspections and observations in a construction environment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
