About the team

Zillow's Corporate Accounting and Consolidation organization sits within the Controller function, bringing together corporate accounting, international accounting, and enterprise close and consolidation. The Close and Consolidation team leads the enterprise close and serves as an integrator across Accounting, connecting issues and dependencies and providing Finance leaders with a holistic view of financial results, risks, and priorities.

As Zillow expands its international capabilities and advances its close, systems, automation, and AI strategy, this organization will play a central role in modernizing how Accounting operates.

About the role

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you will lead a team of accounting professionals, including people leaders. You will set the organization's strategy while ensuring technical rigor, operational excellence, and strong partnerships across Finance.

You will:

  • Lead an accurate, timely, and well-controlled close and consolidation process across Zillow's entities, ensuring consolidated financial statements comply with US GAAP and accounting policies.

  • Own Accounting's preparation for and support of quarterly and annual external filings and related reviews and audits, ensuring timely, accurate deliverables.

  • Provide Finance leadership with a clear, synthesized view of close status, financial results, and emerging risks, translating work across Accounting into timely insights that support decisions.

  • Lead corporate accounting across centralized accounting functions including expense accruals, capitalized labor, cash and investments, leases, hedging, and fixed and intangible assets,  ensuring accurate reporting and consistent execution.

  • Build and sustain deep technical accounting expertise across your organization, ensuring teams identify and assess issues, develop and document accounting positions, and inform and support policy development in partnership with Technical Accounting.

  • Own intercompany accounting, consolidation, foreign currency, and transfer pricing, and lead cross-functional partnerships across Accounting, Tax, and Treasury to align strategy, execution, and compliance.

  • Build Zillow's international accounting operations and manage third-party providers, ensuring sound entity-level accounting, local GAAP and statutory reporting, regulatory compliance, and independent audits.

  • Serve as Accounting's functional owner for Workday Financials, FloQast, and other close tools. Set the roadmap, ensure usability, own Finance Administration for configurations and master data, and partner with Finance Technology on larger changes.

  • Design and maintain efficient, scalable, and well-documented accounting processes that clearly identify risks and controls and help teams and leaders quickly understand the work, evaluate proposed changes, and assess scalability.

  • Drive Finance Transformation across Accounting by proactively moving improvements to policies, processes, systems, automation, and AI from idea to implementation, reducing manual effort, freeing team capacity, and delivering measurable value with urgency and sound operational judgment.

  • Partner across Finance and the business on complex transactions and strategic initiatives, integrating new activities, acquisitions, and organizational changes into accounting processes, systems, controls, and reporting.

  • Cultivate an inclusive and effective organization through clear expectations, coaching, and growth opportunities, while balancing disciplined execution with the flexibility to pivot as priorities change.
