
Substitute Teaching Assistant
Waldorf School of the Peninsula is seeking compassionate, reliable, and collaborative Substitute Teaching Assistants to support our Early Childhood and Grades 1-3 programs. Our ideal substitutes are individuals who appreciate Waldorf education, can provide a warm and nurturing presence, and are comfortable stepping into a variety of learning environments.
Responsibilities
- Substitute in Preschool, Kindergarten and/or Grades 1-3.
- Provide classroom supervision and support as directed by the lead teacherÂ
- Maintain a calm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environmentÂ
- Uphold classroom rhythms, routines, and community agreementsÂ
- Support students’ social-emotional well-being throughout the dayÂ
- Communicate effectively with faculty, parents and administrative staffÂ
- Ensure student safety and follow all school policies and procedures
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 6 ECE units required for Early Childhood
- Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting
- Waldorf training preferred, or interest in, or familiarity with Waldorf educationÂ
- Strong classroom/student management and communication skillsÂ
- Ability to adapt, take initiative, and maintain a steady, grounded presenceÂ
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work on short notice on-call, as-needed basis
- Must pass a background check and TB assessmentÂ
Compensation
The hourly range for Substitute Teaching Assistants vary from $23.97 to $26.50 depending on class levels.
