Cost Analyst, Item Cost Management

Job Description

Job Summary:The Sourcing Analyst is responsible for the accurate execution, maintenance, and governance of item cost data across merchandising SKUs. This role ensures cost updates are processed accurately and timely within established global workflows and data governance standards. The analyst performs detailed data validation, supports landed cost modeling for direct imports, and helps maintain compliance documentation related to duties and tariffs. This role plays a critical operational support function between U.S. and Taipei sourcing teams, Finance, and Logistics, ensuring cost data integrity, audit readiness, and adherence to defined cost data governance frameworks. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Cost Lifecycle Execution 

• Execute end‑to‑end item cost updates from vendor quote receipt through final approved and activated costs, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation 

• Maintain item‑level cost components, including base cost, allowances, freight, duty, and surcharges, in accordance with approved costing structures 

Cost Data Governance & Controls 

• Support the execution of established cost data governance frameworks, including standardized data definitions, required fields, approval thresholds, and documentation requirements 

• Ensure cost changes comply with defined governance rules, audit controls, and financial policies before activation in enterprise systems 

• Partner with Finance and Sourcing to help identify data quality gaps, recurring errors, or control weaknesses, and support remediation efforts 

• Maintain audit‑ready cost records and support internal or external audits by providing documentation and cost change rationale as requested 

Workflow Coordination 

• Process cost change requests through established approval hierarchies, ensuring alignment with financial controls and segregation‑of‑duty requirements 

• Track and communicate cost change status to sourcing and merchandising partners, escalating issues when approvals or data are incomplete 

Data Quality, Audit & Validation 

• Conduct routine audits and variance checks on item cost data to identify discrepancies across systems 

• Investigate root causes of cost data issues and support corrective actions to prevent recurrence 

• Maintain a high standard of data accuracy across categories, vendors, and sourcing regions 

Import & Landed Cost Support 

• Support maintenance of landed cost models by updating duty rates, HTS codes, freight assumptions, and transportation surcharges 

• Assist with data inputs used for margin analysis and import cost forecasting under defined frameworks 

Cross‑Functional Support 

• Serve as an operational point of contact for U.S. and Taipei sourcing teams regarding cost setup, changes, and timing 

• Collaborate with Finance, Logistics, and Compliance to ensure cost data aligns with downstream financial reporting and regulatory requirements 

Qualifications: 

• Strong working knowledge of enterprise systems (e.g., Oracle RMS, ADIS, PMM). 

• High level of attention to detail with experience in data cleansing, root cause analysis, and spreadsheet management. 

• Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Formulas) is required. 

• Experience with Power BI or Macros is preferred. 

• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional partners in Finance, Logistics, and Sourcing. 

Certifications, Experience, and Education: 

• Certifications: None 

• Experience:2–4 years of experience in cost analysis, supply chain, or retail merchandising operations. Experience with import costs or HTS classification is preferred. 

• Education:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education. 

Location & Work Availability:  

This position is Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote), based at our corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina.
