General Description

The purpose of this class is to design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise application integrations, interfaces, APIs, and automated data exchanges that enable secure and reliable interoperability among County technology systems. The position serves as a senior technical resource for enterprise integration and is responsible for integration solutions supporting financial and human resources systems, Courts, Public Safety, general administrative systems, and other County applications. The position independently analyzes complex integration requirements and designs effective, secure, reliable, and supportable solutions using enterprise integration platforms, APIs, database technologies, and other data exchange methods.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class.  Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• Designs, develops, implements, maintains, and supports enterprise application integrations, interfaces, APIs, and automated data exchanges among County and third-party systems.
• Develops and supports integration solutions for financial and human resources systems, Courts, Public Safety, general administrative systems, and other enterprise and departmental applications.
• Designs and implements secure, reliable, maintainable, and fault-tolerant integrations using enterprise integration platforms, APIs, web services, database technologies, file-based exchanges, and other appropriate integration methods.
• Develops, configures, administers, monitors, and troubleshoots integrations using the County's enterprise integration platform and related technologies.
• Designs, implements, and supports REST and SOAP APIs, web services, and other system interfaces and works with data formats and technologies including JSON, XML, CSV, SQL, and comparable technologies.
• Investigates and resolves complex integration failures and data exchange issues; analyzes logs, system behavior, data, interfaces, and dependencies to identify root causes and implement corrective solutions.
• Implements and maintains monitoring, logging, error handling, alerting, recovery, and data validation processes to ensure integration reliability, data integrity, and operational supportability.
• Works with application owners, business analysts, vendors, and other Information Technology staff to analyze integration requirements, data flows, system dependencies, and technical specifications and translate requirements into effective integration solutions.
• Supports application implementations, upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives requiring new or modified integrations, interfaces, APIs, or data exchanges.
• Develops and maintains integration mappings, technical specifications, data flow documentation, interface inventories, support procedures, and other technical documentation necessary to support the County's integration environment.
• Ensures integration solutions are implemented and maintained in accordance with established cybersecurity, access control, change management, testing, documentation, and technology governance requirements.
• Provides technical expertise and knowledge transfer to Applications staff and collaborates with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Network, project management, vendors, and other Enterprise Services functions to support enterprise systems and resolve complex technical issues.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, information systems, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
•  Requires five years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise systems integration, application integration, middleware, API development and support, enterprise applications, or closely related information technology work.
•  Requires experience in several of the following areas:

-Enterprise integration platforms or integration-platform-as-a-service (iPaaS) technologies.

-REST and SOAP APIs, web services, and system interfaces.

-JSON, XML, CSV, and other structured data formats.

-SQL and relational database technologies.

-Application-to-application and system-to-system data exchange.

-File-based integrations, secure file transfer, or scheduled data exchanges.

-Integration monitoring, logging, error handling, troubleshooting, and recovery

-Authentication, authorization, encryption, certificates, or other security concepts associated with system integrations.

-Enterprise application implementations, upgrades, migrations, or modernization initiatives.

-Technical requirements, integration specifications, data mapping, and technical documentation.

• Experience with Boomi is preferred.
• Experience integrating enterprise financial, human resources, payroll, procurement, Courts, Public Safety, or other government systems is preferred.
• Requires strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

The work is primarily performed in an office environment and requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of computers and other standard office equipment. The employee may occasionally stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift or move equipment or materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

The position may require travel between County facilities and work outside of normal business hours to support system implementations, maintenance activities, system outages, or other operational needs.
