Azure Architect

We are seeking anAzure Architect to lead the Azure side of a complex multi-platform, multi-discipline project, driving integration architecture across enterprise observability, ITSM, monitoring, and developer portal platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define the integration architecture, including API contracts, data models, authentication patterns, and event flows, to connect Backstage with enterprise observability, ITSM, and monitoring platforms
• Architect the monitoring integration capability by embedding dashboards such as Grafana/LGTM per catalog entity, covering entity-to-dashboard mapping and authentication passthrough
• Design the ArgoCD integration, covering plugin integration, API authentication, entity-annotation mapping, and RBAC projection, to provide deployment-status visibility within the developer portal
• Own the announcements and notifications integration, including upstream plugin configuration, notification channels like email and Teams webhooks, and publisher RBAC, to support platform-wide communication
• Establish the databases visibility integration through read-only metadata collectors for Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Postgres, along with a search integration using Elasticsearch/pgsearch backend and catalog/TechDocs indexers
• Architect the SDD document generation capability, defining how architecture documentation is produced from repository/catalog metadata and infrastructure-as-code module outputs, triggered through Backstage actions/templates
• Design dashboards, reporting, and enterprise-integration views across Backstage, infrastructure, and integration workstreams to ensure consistent, permission-aware presentation of service health and dependency data
• Coordinate with the Backstage Architect on plugin and data-model alignment, and with the Azure and VMware Architects to ensure infrastructure telemetry and metadata are properly surfaced in the portal
• Provide integration-architecture governance during implementation, validate end-to-end service visibility, and support monitoring, reconciliation, and documentation-generation processes during adoption

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience architecting system integrations with Azure and Azure DevOps
• Expertise in Azure/Entra authentication mechanisms
• Experience integrating cloud database platforms, including Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Postgres, for read-only metadata and observability purposes
• Experience leading projects with complex architectures involving Azure-based services and third-party platform integrations such as VMware and networking devices
• Experience designing automated documentation-generation pipelines from structured metadata sources
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Nice to have

• Experience integrating infrastructure management platforms based on the Backstage framework or similar
• Familiarity with notification and communication integrations
