About the Role

Wood’s Homes is seeking a compassionate and reliable One-to-One Youth and Family Counselor to provide intensive supervision, therapeutic support, and goal-focused interventions to children and youth with complex behavioural, emotional, and mental health needs within our Therapeutic Campus Based Care and Community Group Care programs.

This role provides short-term, individualized support to clients who require continuous supervision due to high-risk behaviours or safety concerns. In addition to maintaining supervision and ensuring safety, one-to-one support staff provide individualized coaching, therapeutic support, skill development, and intervention strategies aimed at addressing identified behavioural, emotional, and mental health concerns. Using a trauma-informed approach, staff actively support the client in working toward established goals, promoting emotional regulation, coping skills, positive decision-making, community participation, and other objectives outlined in the client's support plan. One-to-one supports may be provided within the residential setting, in the community, during transportation, or while accessing emergency, medical, and/or mental health services.

What You Bring

• Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
• Experience supporting children and youth with complex behavioural, emotional, mental health, or trauma-related challenges (2–4 years of experience preferred).
• Knowledge of and commitment to trauma-informed practice, crisis intervention, and strength-based approaches.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification.
• Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract.
• Minimum $2 million liability insurance coverage for use of a personal vehicle for work-related transportation.
• Current proof of professional registration may be required for certain diplomas or degrees.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
