About the job
We are redefining human connection through breakthrough telepresence technology. We are moving beyond flat, 2D video calling to build a life-size, 3D window-like experience powered by advances in light-field displays, spatial audio, multi-camera computer vision, and real-time ML. Bringing this goal to life requires packaging extreme compute, active thermal solutions, dense optical assemblies, and high-fidelity acoustics into an elegant, reliable, and ergonomically balanced form factor.
As the Senior Manager for Mechanical and Product Design Engineering, you will serve as the executive technical leader owning the physical architecture for our current and next-generation telepresence hardware. You will lead, scale, and mentor a team of Mechanical and Product Design Engineers. As an engineering leader, you will partner closely with Industrial Design, Display Engineering, Camera Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability, and manufacturing partners to turn ambitious conceptual designs into mass-producible, high-yield consumer and enterprise hardware.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.US: $236000 - $329000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
- 12 years of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
- 4 years of experience leading multiple engineering teams.
- Experience leading a mechanical system from early concept/architecture into high-volume mass production, including precision tooling and advanced manufacturing processes.
- Experience working directly with international supply chains, tooling vendors, and JDM/ODM manufacturing models.
Preferred qualifications:
- Masterโs degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related technical discipline.
- 15 years of experience in consumer product design, shipping multiple consumer products in a lead, executive staff, or principal engineer role.
- Experience designing products with system complexities such as opto-mechanical systems, high-power thermal management, or acoustic and sensor packaging.
- Experience partnering with Industrial Design teams and collaborating with global suppliers on part manufacturing and final assembly, including onsite factory support.
- Experience using architectural-level simulation suites (e.g., ANSYS, FloTHERM, Abaqus) and synthesizing complex engineering trade-offs (cost, schedule, cosmetics, thermal performance) for non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead, scale, and mentor a high-performing mechanical and product design engineering team, fostering an engineering culture grounded in first principles, engineering excellence and disciplined execution.
- Own the end-to-end mechanical system architecture for next-generation hardware, defining the strategy for chassis integration, precision opto-mechanical structures, thermal dissipation, acoustic chambers, and multi-component packaging.
- Partner cross-functionally with Electrical Engineering, Camera/Display Systems, and Industrial Design to balance design intent and human factors with strict engineering constraints (e.g., EMI shielding, structural rigidity, thermal envelopes).
- Guide architectural simulations and validation across structural mechanics, FEA, CFD/thermal airflow, and environmental reliability for enterprise and consumer environments.
- Drive mechanical engineering delivery across all hardware development milestones (proto through mass roduction), leading design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews, global supply chain strategy, tooling vendor engagements, and executive technical governance.
