Who we are: Henry Ford St John Children's Hospital is a nationally recognized children’s hospital located within Henry Ford St. John Hospital. The approximately 90 bed hospital serves all pediatric populations from birth to 21 years of age, including an 8 bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 26 private-bed inpatient pediatric unit and a level II pediatric emergency department.

Join Henry Ford Health at Henry Ford St. John Children’s Hospital as a Pediatric PICU Clinical Pharmacist and become an integral member of our pediatric and PICU care teams.

In this highly collaborative role, you’ll serve as a trusted pharmacy resource within the Pediatric Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), working alongside physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to provide expert medication management and optimize outcomes for our pediatric patients.

What You’ll Do

💊 Provide direct clinical pharmacy care to pediatric and critically ill patients
🤝 Partner closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams as a medication expert
🧪 Optimize medication therapy and contribute to evidence-based clinical decision-making
📋 Participate in protocol and order-set development, drug-use evaluations, and medication safety initiatives
👩‍⚕️ Support and mentor pharmacy residents, PharmD students, and other healthcare professionals
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Provide medication education to pediatric patients, parents, families, and caregivers
🏥 Collaborate with our decentralized clinical pharmacists and Neonatal/Pediatric Pharmacy Specialists to support continuity of care across the pediatric service line
📚 Help advance pediatric and neonatal pharmacy knowledge through education, collaboration, and clinical practice

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Must hold a degree from an accredited college of pharmacy and must complete a residency training program or have equivalent experience in hospital pharmacy practice.
• Post-graduate year 1 pharmacy residency prefered, post-graduate year 2 pharmacy residency in pediatrics highly preferred
• Pediatric advanced life support certification preferred.
• Expectation is that Pediatric/PICU pharmacist specialist will be Board Certified for Pediatrics within 1 year of hire
• Minimum of 3-5 years of pharmacist experience or the equivalent training and experience at another institution, preferred.
• Must have demonstrated the ability to meet and exceed practice standards set for a Level II pharmacist. (Henry Ford Detroit Hospital Only)
• Must be able to serve as an institutional authority in a given specialty practice area.
• Must have demonstrable leadership abilities and exhibit teamwork when working with others.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills which enable him/her to contribute effectively in the dissemination of information to all levels of health care personnel in the institution. Should have a proven research/publication record.
• Must be qualified to work with pharmacy students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: 

• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan. If eligible, licensure must be obtained within 30 days of hire; failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of the Pharmacy Specialist position.
