We’re looking for aLead Data Engineer with strong expertise inSQL, dbt, and Athena, with experience building modern data transformation and ELT solutions. Experience with AWS data services is a plus, but the primary focus will be on developing and optimizingAthena SQL queries and dbt workflows.

This is aclient-facing leadership role, ideal for engineers who combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset. You will play a key role in building reliable, scalable, and high-quality data pipelines that support critical business and analytics workflows.

What will you be doing?

• Lead thedesign and implementation of data ingestion and transformation solutions using SQL and dbt, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Own the development ofend-to-end ELT pipelines using dbt and Athena to transform and process data from multiple sources.

• Design and enforcedata quality frameworks, including validation rules, testing strategies, and monitoring.

• Apply and driveMedallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) best practices across data pipelines.

• Develop and optimizeAthena SQL queries and dbt models to support scalable data transformation and analytics workflows.

• Develop and enhancedata validation and ingestion frameworks, including UI components (Streamlit-based) when needed.

• Act as atechnical leader, guiding best practices in SQL, dbt, data engineering, governance, and pipeline reliability.

• Proactivelyidentify risks, bottlenecks, and data quality issues, and implement mitigation strategies before they impact delivery.

• Drive documentation and continuous improvement of data platform processes.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering (strong senior-level or lead mindset expected).

• Strong hands-on experience with SQL (Must).

• Strong hands-on experience with dbt (Must).

• Strong experience buildingELT pipelines and data transformation solutions.

• Strong experience working withAWS Athena and writing complex SQL queries.

• Solid understanding ofdata modeling and large-scale data processing.

• Experience withAWS services and data platforms (Plus)

• Experience with tools such asGlue, S3, EMR, Lambda, Terraform, or CloudFormation (Plus).
