Payment Posting Manager

Essential Functions

• Provides leadership and direction to Payment Posting team, including hiring, training, coaching, performance reviews and terminations.
• Plans, develops, implements, and communicates operational initiatives to improve the efficiency of the Payment Posting team.
• Provides project guidance to successfully implement efficient posting processes.
• Maintains and improves department operations by monitoring system performance, identifying and resolving problems.
• Manages communication and processes between departments involved in the revenue cycle and identify areas for improvement.
• Establishes productivity monitoring for the department staff to maximize resources and results.
• Monitors key performance metrics, addresses issues in a timely manner to improve performance and resolve issues.
• Acts as a technical expert, maintaining current working knowledge of Billing, Payment Posting regulations.
• Ensures department compliance with HIPAA guidelines, HR policies and other corporate initiatives.
• Develops and  documents processes and policies for the department.
• Conducts regularly scheduled meetings to communicate issues regarding compliance with established procedures and overall work unit effectiveness

"This role works closely with the Payment Posting Manager and Team- and oversees four key teams that support the payment posting process:

Research: Research and resolve missing payments, research payment issues, and Epic WQs.

Payment Detail: Manages the retrieval and processing of electronic remittance files, including ERAs and EOBs, to support timely and accurate payment posting.

Cash Control: Supports daily bank reconciliation, cash balancing, and third-party billing activities to ensure payments are accurately accounted for.

Correspondence: Manages the indexing and routing of incoming correspondence, ensuring documentation is captured accurately and available to the appropriate teams.

In addition to overseeing these teams and the three Supervisors, the role manages key banking relationships, including Wells Fargo and Zions, and supports ERA/835 conversion and implementation. The position also plays a key role in Cash Management automation, partnering with DTS, payer vendors, and banking institutions to implement and improve automated payment processes, file exchanges, and related workflows. This role is closely connected to the overall payment lifecycle and helps ensure the people, systems, banking processes, and technology supporting payment posting work together effectively."

Qualifications

Required

• Demonstrated experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations.
• Demonstrated experience leading a successful team within healthcare revenue cycle operations. 
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of EOB interpretatiion.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of healthcare billing requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and departments.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of Microsoft office programs.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, finance, or related field from an accredited institution.  Education is verified.    
• Epic experience.
• Five (5) years of experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle (Payment Posting, Claims, billing, and Insurance and Follow up)  
• Three (3) years of supervisory experience. 
• HFMA Certification 

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. 
• Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. 
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc. 
• May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts. 
• For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
