Position Summary: The Senior Supply Chain Analyst supports supply chain and manufacturing operations through advanced reporting, data analysis, performance monitoring, risk identification, and cross-functional coordination. This broad, hands-on role is suited for an experienced supply chain professional who can interpret complex information, recognize emerging constraints, identify out-of-tolerance conditions, and translate data into practical recommendations and corrective actions.
The position will monitor critical customer and operational commitments, including material availability, supplier performance, inventory, backlog, production requirements, and delivery performance. Although purchasing and supply planning are not the role’s primary responsibilities, the Senior Supply Chain Analyst must have sufficient working knowledge of both functions to provide effective backup coverage when needed.
Reporting to the Senior Materials Manager, this individual will assume ownership of several recurring analytical, reporting, and operational activities as the manager transitions into a position with increased responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, automate, and interpret recurring supply chain and operational reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators.
- Analyze business conditions, demand and supply trends, material constraints, capacity considerations, and other potential operational risks.
- Identify and escalate out-of-tolerance conditions before they affect production schedules, customer commitments, or business performance.
- Monitor critical customer requirements, delivery commitments, material shortages, past-due orders, backlog, and recovery plans.
- Track and analyze purchasing, planning, inventory, supplier, production, and delivery performance using measures such as on-time delivery, past-due backlog, inventory levels, shortage exposure, purchase-price performance, and supplier lead times.
- Translate large or complex data sets into clear conclusions, business implications, and recommended actions.
- Perform root-cause analysis to identify the factors contributing to recurring shortages, schedule disruptions, inventory issues, or performance gaps.
- Provide management with recurring metrics, dashboards, ad hoc analysis, scenario modeling, and other decision-support tools.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Planning, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Program Management, Quality, Finance, and other functional teams to resolve supply chain and operational issues.
- Validate data from multiple sources, investigate discrepancies, and improve the accuracy, consistency, and usefulness of supply chain reporting.
- Support process improvement, reporting standardization, workflow automation, and increased visibility across supply chain activities.
- Document reporting processes, data sources, assumptions, and standard work to support consistency and continuity.
- Provide backup support for supply planning and purchasing activities during absences, workload surges, or other coverage needs.
- Support supply chain projects, system improvements, and operational priorities across multiple facilities as required.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Approximately 5–10 years of relevant experience in supply chain, materials management, manufacturing operations, purchasing, planning, analytics, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of supply planning, purchasing, inventory management, production requirements, supplier performance, and material-flow processes.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment; experience supporting aerospace, defense, electronics, or another high-reliability industry is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to recognize risk, identify root causes, and determine when escalation is required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, conditional formulas, data validation, data manipulation, and report development.
- Experience using ERP or MRP systems and extracting, reconciling, and interpreting system-generated data.
- Experience developing dashboards or using Power Query, Power BI, SQL, or similar data-analysis and visualization tools is preferred.
- Familiarity with reporting automation, AI-assisted analytics, or other emerging productivity tools is beneficial.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex findings clearly to operational and executive audiences.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, take ownership of recurring deliverables, and follow issues through resolution.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, analytics, operations, finance, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered.
Position Profile
The ideal candidate is a versatile, detail-oriented supply chain professional who is comfortable moving between data analysis, reporting, risk identification, issue resolution, operational coordination, and backup functional support. This position requires someone who can independently determine what the data is indicating—not simply produce reports—and use those insights to drive timely decisions and corrective action.
Success in the role will require curiosity, follow-through, sound operational judgment, and the ability to establish productive working relationships across functions and facilities.
Work Environment
- Work is performed primarily in a professional office environment within an active manufacturing facility.
- The position requires regular interaction with employees across supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, quality, customer service, finance, and program management.
- The role involves extended periods of computer-based data analysis and may require occasional presence in production, warehouse, shipping, or receiving areas.
- The employee must follow all applicable safety, security, and site procedures when working in manufacturing or operational areas.
Work Location and Travel
- This is an on-site position based at Spectrum Control’s Philadelphia, Pennsylvania facility.
- Occasional travel or on-site support may be required at other company facilities, including Delmar, Delaware; Frederick, Maryland; and Marlborough, Massachusetts.
- Travel and work at other facilities are expected to be infrequent and based on business needs.
