Project Manager — Commercial Construction | Martin Horn
Martin Horn is looking for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of complex, high-impact commercial projects — typically $5M–$15M, ground-up or major renovation. You'll lead your own jobs from preconstruction through punch list, own the client and architect relationships, and mentor an Assistant PM along the way.
What makes this different: you'll have the autonomy to run your work and the support to do it well. Our PMs are backed by a proven process, real-time cost data, and senior leaders who are in the trenches with you — not managing from a distance.
Why Join Martin Horn
- Voted Best Contractor in Charlottesville, with 45+ years of work across Central Virginia
- Manageable workload — we set PMs up for success, not burnout
- Project Executives work alongside you, not above you
- Clear insight into project financials — no guesswork, no runaround
- A strong pipeline of negotiated work keeps the jobs coming
- A team you'll actually like — we go to concerts, UVA games, and golf events, and we give back together
We've built a culture rooted in integrity, trust, and accountability, and we back it up: people are paid well, given the flexibility to balance work and life, and trusted to manage their own time. With 30 office and 40 field professionals, we hire top talent and empower them to excel.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead projects from precon through closeout, typically $5M–$15M
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients and architects
- Oversee planning, budgets, schedules, procurement, contracts, and closeout
- Use CMiC and internal tools to track every dollar in real time
- Mentor your assigned APM while collaborating daily with experienced PMs and executives
- Keep subcontractors, vendors, and field teams aligned and delivering quality work
What You Bring
- 5+ years as a full-time PM on commercial projects (or comparable experience)
- A track record of delivering on time and on budget
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Working knowledge of construction contracts, CPM scheduling, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Familiarity with construction systems and software (CMiC a plus)
- A team mindset, a calm presence, and a drive to solve problems
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Perks & Benefits
- Health, vision, and dental insurance
- 401K and HSA with company match
- Responsible paid time off
- Life & disability insurance
- Vehicle allowance
- Company gym (24/7 access)
- Company phone or phone stipend
- Stocked office kitchen
- Career development, education, and training; business memberships and dues
- Tickets to UVA athletics, local concerts, and community events
- Team outings and off-site social events
