About the role
- We are seeking a lab-focused engineer to manage system-level integration and troubleshooting of electro-optical hardware. This role emphasizes methodically isolating problems and localizing them to a specific component or subsystem. The right candidate combines broad technical understanding with clear communication and a practical, hands-on approach.Â
What you'll do
- Own day-to-day operation of the automated test benches: prepare setups, DUT handling, perform calibrations, and bench health checksÂ
- Run test campaigns end to end and produce clean, fully traceable results — every measurement tied to its bench configuration and unit under test.Â
- Design tests and test setups: choose the method, the instruments, and the measurement approach that verify the requirement at hand.Â
- Design and redesign test benches: mechanical layout, fixtures, wiring, instrument selection, and validation of the new setup.Â
- Debug hardware/firmware interactions using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzersÂ
- Perform signal and power integrity measurements; identify noise and crosstalk sourcesÂ
- Establish and maintain the lab’s communication infrastructures: instruments, benches, and computers connected and exchanging data reliably.Â
- Keep the lab running with your own hands: solder and rework boards, build cables and harnesses, and debug bench electronics.Â
- Take complex test processes apart, understand every test step and the physics behind, and intervene to optimize the process — cycle time, measurement quality, repeatability, yield.Â
- Judge measurement health in real time: spot drift, bad fixtures, or suspect data before it contaminates a dataset.Â
- Support new bench bring-up, pilot runs, and acceptance of new setups.Â
Required Qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical EngineeringÂ
- ~5+ years of hands-on lab experience with precision hardware for device bring-up, system validation, or failure analysisÂ
- A solid general physics foundation — optics, electronics, mechanics, thermalÂ
- Working programming skills: able to understand and debug scripts in Python, C/C++, Bash, or MATLAB. Handling large datasets through code is a must.Â
- Laser safety, ESD, and cleanroom discipline as second nature.Â
- Schematic, layout, and datasheet fluencyÂ
Preferred Qualifications
- Working with mechatronics systems and testing.Â
- Basic CAD for fixtures and bench mechanics — CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or similar.Â
- Experience with automated test stations (automated test equipment) in a production or validation environment.Â
Benefits(subject to location and local regulations)
- Competitive salary and equityÂ
- Flexible vacation and time-off policyÂ
- Collaborative, fast-paced, and inclusive work environmentÂ
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies with a highly cross-functional teamÂ
