A note on timing:We're recruiting for our Summer 2027 cohort. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with interviews and offers extending into winter/spring 2027. This role is open to students who will be enrolled in or have completed a relevant degree program as of Summer 2027 (e.g., rising juniors/seniors).

About the Role

Bound is looking for an Accounting Intern to join our finance team for a full-time, hands-on internship rotating across core accounting and finance functions. You'll get exposure to the day-to-day operations that keep a growing, multi-state startup running — from accounts payable and receivable to reconciliations and reporting — while working directly with our finance and accounting staff. This is a great opportunity for a student looking to build practical, real-world experience in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, including invoice review and vendor/customer correspondence
• Support monthly and quarterly account reconciliations
• Help prepare for and support month-end and quarter-end close processes
• Assist with financial reporting and data compilation for internal stakeholders
• Help identify opportunities to improve processes and documentation

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) a plus
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Comfortable working with numbers and maintaining accuracy under deadlines
• Eager to learn, proactive, and comfortable asking questions in a fast-paced startup environment
• Basic understanding of accounting principles (debits/credits, GAAP fundamentals)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Work Hours & Flexibility

Bound does not operate on a traditional “routine” workweek. When work needs to be done, we collaborate to get it done — whether that’s in the morning, afternoon, evening, or occasionally on weekends.

At the same time, Bound supports flexibility for personal needs, family events, appointments, and time to recharge. Employees are trusted to manage their schedules while meeting deadlines and delivering high‑quality work.

Work Location

Bound supports in-office, remote and hybrid work. Some roles may require on‑site presence depending on team needs and responsibilities. Location expectations for this role: Ames, IA office, hybrid flexibility
