POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:The Electrician position is responsible maintaining the electrical equipment for the Andersonville facilities and assisting other electricians and operations resolving plant issues. The Electrician must be a motivated, self-starter who will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. This position reports to the Electrical Supervisor and will perform duties of electrical and mechanical nature on a routine basis. This position is committed to providing the providing the necessary service to maintain electrical equipment at a high rate of availability and at the most effective cost. 

Essential functions of the position:

The Electrician at Imerys’ primary duty is to ensure electrical equipment reliability meets the production levels as required. Provide support and assistance for Maintenance and Engineering activities.

• Service and maintain existing electrical and electrical related equipment, including plant lighting and receptacle circuits, motors, starters, relays, push buttons, limit switches, special control switches, timers, counters, motor control centers, control panels and transformers, as well as the test equipment needed to do this servicing. To install and maintain grounding systems, panel boxes and load centers, transformers, motor controls, DC motor drives, VFDs, weigh feeders, belt scales, air conditioners, lighting and other apparatus. Assist and learn to analyze and troubleshoot PLC and control systems
• Install insulated cables and connect switches, outlets and other fittings. Connect cables to circuit breakers, transformers, motors, heaters etc. Test electrical circuits. Complete electrical calculations. Test equipment using meters. Carry out high voltage switching.
• Electrical Construction, including: installation of conduit and wiring for power distribution and lighting; panel building; installation of conduit and wiring for machine and equipment controls; layout, planning and installation of control systems including programmable controllers, drives, servo systems, etc.; installation of communication and data systems.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, calibration, and repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems. Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether instrumentation or other errors contributed to the problems.
• Participates in plant safety, health and environmental programs.

Qualifications: The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Requires a High School diploma/GED with a minimum of three (3) years industrial experience as a Journeyman Electrician emphasizing troubleshooting and repair. Technical degree or certificate program is desired, but not necessary.
• Individual must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to co-workers and supervisors. Must have the ability to read and comprehend work instructions, equipments manuals, safety procedures, standards, and electrical control diagrams. Must be able to correctly identify electrical wiring color.
• Computer Skills: Familiar with Microsoft Office and other basic office computer software, and the ability to learn how to effectively use computer to input data, retrieve work orders, maintain data and research parts.
• Physical Requirements: Routine lifting of heavy objects. Subject to climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolds, and work at heights. Work is subject to standing or walking for long periods of time.
• Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job; the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, energized equipment, dusty conditions, high noise, outside weather in all conditions and materials used in the process.
