Project Description

Kosovo’s leading civil society organizations and public institutions are looking for strategic thinkers and grant‑writing mentors to shape a sustainable future.

Kosovo’s civil society has evolved from post‑war relief to long‑term development, yet many non-government organizations (NGOs) and public institutions now face funding instability as major donors shift their priorities elsewhere. Organizations serving marginalized communities, education, and public health remain dependent on a narrow set of traditional grants and lack a variety of income streams, such as private philanthropy or corporate sponsorships. Limited staff capacity, a lack of donor databases, and insufficient resource mobilization structures further constrain their ability to secure and manage funding. These gaps make it difficult for organizations to sustain essential services independently, underscoring the need for external support.

As a Resource Mobilization Advisor, you will collaboratively assess organizational assets, co‑design resource mobilization strategies, and mentor staff through the full grant lifecycle to strengthen the future of these essential programs. You will co‑write competitive proposals, expanding donor networks and improving grant‑tracking systems. By establishing sustainable fundraising frameworks and mentoring teams to manage them effectively, you will help ensure vital community services—from minority learning centers to neonatal healthcare support—can continue independently for years to come.

Required Skills

Bachelor's degree in business, economics, management, or other relevant field.
AND
Three or more years of experience working at a non-government organization (NGO) or a donor-driven organization on prospect/donor identification, grant writing, fundraising, or proposal development.

Living Conditions

Volunteers typically live independently in Pristina district or other urban centers with access to cafés, markets, and cultural events. Housing is modest and may experience occasional power outages or heating challenges in winter. Most Volunteers will live in an apartment, while others will live in small houses. The expected commute to the work site is 20–40 minutes by bus, taxi, bike or on foot.

Job Highlights

Gain valuable experience in international project design, grant writing, and donor strategies.
Develop Albanian language proficiency through immersive, daily conversations.
Experience Kosovo’s vibrant culture and build lasting connections with your community.

You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as facilitating adult English conversation clubs or organizing community volunteer events.

Training

After a two-week orientation on topics such as language, culture, health, and safety, you will move to an urban community where you will collaborate with NGOs or a university to assess the needed resources and develop a work plan in line with established goals.
