Position Summary

Life University is seeking qualified and experiencedReserve Police Officers to support the Campus Police Department by providingon-call law enforcement services and additional coverage during peak periods, special events, emergencies, or staffing shortages.

Reserve Officers play an important role in helping maintain asafe, secure, and welcoming campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors while supporting Life University’s mission ofLasting Purpose and Student Success.

Reserve Police Officers arenot regularly scheduled employees and serve in anon-call capacity, working assignments as needed and approved by the Chief of Campus Police or designee.

Key Responsibilities

• Provideon-call law enforcement services to supplement regular campus police staffing.
• Respond tocalls for service, emergencies, alarms, and incidents occurring on university property.
• Patrol campus buildings, parking areas, residence halls, and grounds to ensure safety and security.
• Enforcestate laws, local ordinances, and Life University policies.
• Assist withcrowd control, traffic direction, and safety monitoring during campus events and activities.
• Conduct preliminary investigations of incidents, accidents, or suspicious activity.
• Prepare and submitincident reports and documentation in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Provide assistance and guidance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
• Support full-time officers duringemergency response situations.
• Maintain familiarity withcampus geography, safety protocols, and departmental procedures.
• Participate in requiredtraining and departmental briefings.

Additional Information

The On-Call Reserve Campus Safety Representative position is intended to providesupplemental safety staffing and does not guarantee a set number of hours. Assignments will be scheduled based oncampus safety needs and employee availability.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Must beP.O.S.T. certified in the State of Georgia or eligible for certification.
• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
• Prior law enforcement experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to successfully pass abackground investigation, including criminal history review.
• ValidGeorgia driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to meet thephysical requirements of law enforcement duties.

• Knowledge oflaw enforcement procedures, safety practices, and applicable laws.
• Stronginterpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse campus community.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions inhigh-pressure or emergency situations.
• Ability to prepare accurate and timelyincident and investigative reports.
• Commitment toprofessionalism, integrity, and community-oriented policing.

Work Environment

• Work is performed bothindoors and outdoors across the university campus.
• Duties may requirestanding, walking, driving, and responding to emergencies.
• Assignments may includeevenings, weekends, holidays, or special events.
• This position ison-call and scheduled on an as-needed basis to provide additional departmental coverage.

Additional Information

Reserve Police Officers serve assupplemental law enforcement personnel and are not guaranteed regular hours. Scheduling is determined by departmental needs and officer availability.
