The Researcher conducts basic theoretical & experimental scientific & technological investigation directed toward the acquisition of new knowledge. Works closely with business units to Client, develop, and deploy cutting-edge technologies. Areas of research possibly include oil spill response technologies, environmental genomics, remote sensing, air emissions monitoring, and acquisition of new knowledge.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborates with other scientists & research technicians as a member of a cross functional team to create or utilize advanced techniques to Client, develop & deploy new technology
• Ensures successful project / program completion & implementation as defined by the research science leadership
• Provides timely & accurate information & status updates to research leadership
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous experience in a closely related position
• BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Marine Science, Molecular Ecology, Bioinformatics, Toxicology or a closely related field required
• Experience in laboratory work, analytical chemistry, and field sampling coordination, techniques and strategies
• Excellent numerical analysis skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

•Title: Research Technologist
•Location: Baytown, TX – BTEC Facility (on-site only; no travel required)
•Schedule: Flexible 8-hour day | Core hours: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM | Start window: 6:30 – 8:30 AM
•Pay Rate: ***–***/hour (Level 1); target start at ***/hr

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•Education: Bachelor's degree required; Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred
•Experience: 1–3 years minimum of hands-on lab work (internship or independent research acceptable; classroom lab experience does NOT qualify)
•Must-Have Skills:
•Experience handling pyrophorics (chemicals that self-ignite upon air exposure)
•Glove box / air-free environment experience
•Ability to multitask in a fast-paced lab setting

•High-pressure reactor experience
•NMR analysis (MestReNova or Topspin software)

ROLE OVERVIEW
•Daily glove box lab work supporting catalysis research
•Collaboration with a PhD work director and pilot plant engineers
•On-site movement of materials between labs and surrounding pilot plants
Ramp-Up Expectations:
•Days 1–30: Orientation, safety training, building internal contacts
•By Day 90: Fully independent, completing all job tasks without supervision
