This is a job posting for an Research Fellow at NTU's Q²Lab, in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE).
Â
Q²Lab works on electronic and optical devices that exploit both classical and quantum functionalities. It is built mainly on GaN semiconductors, complemented by 2D materials, liquid crystals, and perovskites. Its work spans MBE/MOVPE growth, in-house characterization, and device fabrication in NTU's EEE clean-room. The target devices are high-power/high-frequency transistors, nonlinear photonic circuits (including all-optical computing), and quantum emitters and qubits, with topological physics and new light-matter coupling regimes incorporated therein. Q²Lab belongs to NTU's EEE, which is a founding school of the university, with over 3,000 undergraduates and 2,000 graduate students. It ranks 4th worldwide in Electrical & Electronic Engineering in the 2025 QS subject rankings.
Â
Key responsibilities:
The lab seeks a meticulous, systematic Research Fellow to set up a new optical laboratory with nonlinear and quantum capabilities and use it to develop an all-optical computing platform.
Responsibilities include
- Running the lab,
- Assisting with optical measurements
- Implementing all-optical neuromorphic architectures
- Collaborating with theory groups.
Â
Job requirements:
- Candidates need a PhD in Physics or Materials Science (optics focus)
- The work is experimental and mostly optical.
- Hands-on experience building optical setups
- Familiarity with polariton physics (a must)
- Good communication skills
- The ability to work independently and with international partners.
- Entry-level candidates are welcome.
