Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society (BKC), an interfaculty research center, seeks a Research Coordinator. The Research Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will include conducting scholarly research, critically reviewing existing literature, assisting in the production of workstream written and multimedia outputs, participating in the planning and implementation of multi- stakeholder events, and collaborating with staff and scholars to further the goals of an emerging suite of AI workstreams focusing on urgent topics of technical policy.
The Research Coordinator will join the Berkman Klein Center’s world-class community of scholars and practitioners, and work in close collaboration with the Center’s team of staff, fellows, and faculty to advance a range of interdisciplinary, cutting-edge programs and research related to the study and development of Internet & society.

As Research Coordinator, you will:
- Provide research and operational support to advance AI-focused academic workstreams and related programs and events, including conducting scholarly research, critically reviewing relevant literature, contributing to project deliverables and reports; monitoring overall timelines and outputs; and maintaining online project management tools.
- Schedule and organize meetings, events, and workshops; assist with presentations and program facilitation.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the workstream goals and its intellectual underpinnings to inform internal and external audiences on developments in AI learning.
- Support program communication efforts by collaborating closely with Center staff, including producing basic graphic design for materials and writing and editing web content, blog posts, memos, and other internal and external documents.
- Support the creation of program communities and contribute to Center goals by accomplishing related duties as required; may supervise interns and research assistants as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience (including in an educational context) in research, analytical or related field.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
We are looking for people who have:
- Strong desire to work in the public interest.
- Proficiency in programming languages or tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and experience working with large or complex datasets.
- Experience running compute-intensive machine learning experiments, including on high-performance or GPU computing clusters.
- Familiarity with AI tools and workflows (e.g., LLMs, AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code) and the ability to apply them effectively in research and analytical tasks.
- Experience drafting and editing policy-relevant outputs, including policy briefs, reports, presentations, or grant materials.
- Keen coordination and project management skills; proactive, highly organized, detail-oriented, and remain calm under pressure.
- Effective communication and facilitation skills, including solid writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders across institutional contexts.
- The ability to work flexibly in independent and team environments.
Appointment End Date: As with all Berkman Klein Center positions, this is a term appointment currently expected to extend to June 30, 2027 with potential for renewal, subject to departmental funding and need.
Standard Hours/Schedule:35 hours per week; Full-time, M-F. Based on the changing needs of the Center, the Research Coordinator may be called upon for other tasks at short notice. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, though not with regularity.

Work Format Details
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy onEmployment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
