Purpose of Assignment :
A laboratory role based in the Astellas Cambridge (UK) facilities.
The individual will be working on Discovery Projects in close collaboration with colleagues across Chemistry and Biology.
They will be responsible for providing practical LCMS support to projects.
The Research Associate role is a key position enabling the operational effectiveness of the analytical chemistry platform, comprising 4 LCMS instruments requiring competent professional handling.
The individual will have contact with instrument and service providers including consumables procurement.
The position requires communication with the Operations Group and will directly impact the portfolio of projects.
Key Deliverables :
- Perform ASMS screening and confirmation to validate compound binding.
- Support other LCMS screening assays to generate in-vitro activity data
- Optimise LCMS methods as required to support all analytical studies
- Run HPLC based physical chemistry assays
- Analytical support to the Chemistry Group, including QC and chemical stability studies
- Troubleshooting of LCMS systems to ensure minimal instrument downtime
Required :
- Qualification: BTec/HND/BSc/MSc in role-related field of study, ideally with 2+ years of relevant industrial laboratory experience.
- Experience in maintenance, calibration and use of LCMS systems
- Strong organizational skills including ability to prioritize and work under pressure
Preferred :
- Passion for science together with a ‘can-do’ problem-solving approach
- Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly and apply new concepts and techniques
- Proven track record of working with other scientific disciplines in a constructive and collaborative manner
- Understanding of relevant analytical sciences software i.e. Waters MassLynx
