Title: Report & Data QA Tester (SQL)
Location: Remote Philippines
Length of Contract:Â 6 Months +
Position Description:
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Report and Data QA Tester to validate the accuracy and completeness of business reports and the data behind them. The tester will use SQL to independently check report output against source systems, find discrepancies, and work with developers and business users to resolve them. The focus is on making sure reports and data are correct before they reach the business and regulators.
Responsibilities:
- Report Validation: Test new and changed reports for accuracy, completeness, and formatting against business requirements and source data.
- Data Validation with SQL: Write and run SQL queries to reconcile report results with source databases, data warehouses, and upstream systems.
- Test Planning & Execution: Build test plans, test cases, and test scripts from requirements and specifications. Run functional, regression, and user acceptance (UAT) testing.
- Defect Management: Log, track, and retest defects with clear steps to reproduce and supporting evidence.
- Data Quality: Identify data issues such as missing records, duplicates, incorrect calculations, and transformation errors. Escalate root causes to the right teams.
- Collaboration: Work with report developers, data engineers, business analysts, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and confirm fixes.
- Documentation: Keep test evidence and results organized and audit-ready, in line with the bank’s controls and regulatory expectations.
- 3–5+ years of experience in QA or testing, with a focus on reports, data, or data warehouses.
- Strong SQL skills: joins, aggregations, subqueries, and writing queries to validate large datasets.
- Experience testing output from reporting tools such as [Power BI / SSRS / Tableau / Cognos, as applicable]. Development experience with these tools is not required.
- Solid understanding of test methods, including test cases, regression testing, and UAT.
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or ALM.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving.
- Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and business audiences.
- Experience in banking, financial services, or the Federal Home Loan Bank system.
- Knowledge of financial data such as loans/advances, collateral, capital, or regulatory reporting.
- Exposure to ETL or data warehouse testing.
- Experience working in Agile teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
