OurElectrified Motion – Power Electronics division develops advanced technologies that enable the next generation of electrified vehicles. As aReliability Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the robustness and long-term reliability of our automotive power electronics products, including inverters, on-board chargers and DC-DC converters.
In this role, you will contribute across the entire product lifecycle – from concept phase through series production and field support – while supporting cost-efficiency initiatives without compromising product reliability.
Your tasks:
â–º Evaluate customer reliability requirements and relevant automotive standards (e.g., ISO 16750, AEC-Q100, AEC-Q101) and define reliability targets for power electronics systems and components
â–º Identify, analyze and mitigate reliability-related risks during product development using structured methodologies such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
â–º Analyze complete automotive systems to define use cases, mission profiles and load conditions (electrical, thermal, mechanical) and apply Design for Reliability (DfR) and physics-of-failure principles
â–º Define reliability design guidelines and develop test and validation plans, including accelerated life testing at component and system level
â–º Support cost optimization and target costing initiatives while ensuring that product robustness and reliability targets are maintained
â–º Lead systematic problem-solving activities (e.g., 8D, Ishikawa) for production and field issues and perform root cause analysis based on field data
â–º Document analyses, test results and findings and present reliability-related topics to internal stakeholders and customers
► Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Physics, Chemistry or a related field
â–º Proven professional experience in reliability engineering, ideally within the automotive or power electronics industry, or relevant fields with willingness to develop further in this area
â–º Experience with high-voltage power electronics products such as inverters, DC-DC converters or on-board chargers is an advantage
â–º In-depth understanding of physics-of-failure mechanisms in electronic components and materials
â–º Strong knowledge of statistical reliability methods (e.g., Weibull analysis) and risk evaluation approaches
â–º Familiarity with component and system-level reliability standards (e.g., JEDEC, AEC-Q) is beneficial
â–º Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach
â–º Confident communication skills in English; German language knowledge is an advantage
What gives you further advantages:
â–º Experience in automotive electrification or e-mobility projects
â–º Knowledge of reliability testing and validation methodologies
â–º Experience working in cross-functional and international project teams
