Title:Release Train Engineer - Contract
Duration: Through 4/23/27
Location: Onsite 2 days/week at any Deloitte office
Role Summary
The Release Train Engineer is the servant leader and chief facilitator for an Agile Release Train (ART) supporting product teams. The RTE coordinates planning, execution, and continuous improvement across multiple Scrum teams, helping them deliver predictable, high-quality value aligned to the firm's business priorities and the Financial Advisor and Branch experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate PI Planning, including preparation, execution, and follow-through, and drive alignment on objectives, dependencies, and commitments.
- Run ART execution events: Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and PO Syncs.
- Coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Product Management in Agile and SAFe practices, and strengthen team and program maturity.
- Identify, track, and resolve cross-team dependencies, impediments, and risks, and escalate to senior stakeholders when needed.
- Manage program-level backlog readiness, capacity, and release readiness in partnership with Product Management and Architecture.
- Establish and report on program metrics such as predictability, flow, velocity, quality, and PI objective attainment, using tools like Jira and Jira Align.
- Partner with client business and technology leaders to communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly and transparently.
- Collaborate with Deloitte and Edward Jones leadership to align staffing, skills, and capacity to roadmap needs.
- Drive continuous improvement and promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and learning.
- 8+ years of experience in technology delivery, with 3+ years as an RTE, Program Manager, or Senior Scrum Master in a scaled Agile environment.
- SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification or equivalent (SAFe Program Consultant preferred).
- Proven experience facilitating PI Planning and coordinating multi-team programs.
- Strong command of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Jira, Jira Align, Confluence, or similar tools.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, including with senior executives.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and resolve conflict constructively.
- Servant leadership, strategic thinking, cross-team collaboration, risk management, coaching, and outcome-driven delivery.
- Experience in financial services, wealth management, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with enterprise modernization, integration, or data programs.
- Experience working in blended onshore, nearshore, and offshore delivery models.
- Additional certifications such as SAFe Agilist, PMP, or ICP-ACC.
