JOB SUMMARY

Professional Mentors are adjunct faculty who are experienced registered nurses or advanced practice nurses who provide primarily group-based mentoring, career guidance, professional socialization, and workforce preparation for students participating in the Bridge and Mentoring Center. In consultation with the Assistant Director, Professional Mentors may also provide limited individualized support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitate scheduled group mentoring sessions for assigned student cohorts throughout each academic term.
  • Provide group-based career planning and professional guidance aligned with student needs.
  • Promote professional identity development through cohort-based discussion, reflection, and shared learning activities.
  • Support students in addressing common academic and workplace challenges through structured group dialogue and resource sharing.
  • Encourage leadership development, resilience, and peer support within the mentoring group.
  • Participate in mentor orientation and training related to group facilitation, student support, and program expectations.
  • Maintain brief documentation of group mentoring sessions, including attendance, topics discussed, and general student support needs.
  • Communicate individual or group concerns to the Assistant Director of the Bridge and Mentoring Center when additional support or follow-up is needed.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide limited 1:1 mentorship as approved and directed by the Assistant Director of the Bridge and Mentoring Center

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSN required
  • MSN to work with graduate-level post-licensure students
  • Active RN 
  • APRN license as applicable
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional nursing experience
  • Commitment to mentoring future nurses

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MSN to work with undergraduate students
  • Previous mentoring experience

Compensation: $1,200 per assigned group; $43/hour for 1:1 mentoring

Compensation for adjunct faculty is established at a set rate per course and does not vary based on experience, education, or other factors.
