Treatment Assistant - Full-time - AAMC

PositionObjective:

Thispositionis responsible for generalsupervision of residents and their activities,milieu managementand facilitation of groupmeetings.  This position works closely with the TA Lead position and reports to the Pathways Inpatient/Residential Clinical Manager. Ourtreatmentphilosophyisbasedonevidence-basedpracticesandmultiplepathwaystorecovery;allstaffcollaborate to provide a treatment environment of learning,growth,andindividualized clinical interventions to promote patient success and recovery.

EssentialJobDuties:

1. Providessupervision and supportfor patientsand their activities:

2. Maintain adequatesupplyofwelcome materials for newpatients.

3. Orients newpatients concerning treatmentexpectations,patientrights andresponsibilities.

4. Provides supervision of resident environment and activities,including clarification andreminders of program guidelinesand rules.

5. Conduct roomsearchesaccording to programstandardsasneeded.

6. Transportspatientto and from groups,breaks,mealsandoutsideappointmentsasneeded.

7. Maintainawareness of patient room assignments and counselor/casemanager patient assignments;communicatewithpatient'scounselor,supervisororotherstaffasneededifissuesarise.

8. Assistandaccompany patientsduringdischargeprocesses.

9. Facilitate educationaland/or skill building groupsas assigned and maybe responsible for groupcoveragedue tovacancyor absence.

10.Completeneeded documentation,under supervision,according toJointCommission,COMAR,LuminisHealth andPathways'requirements.

11.Communicateand collaboratewith otherPathwaysstaffto manage emergent and complex patient problems,concernsorotherissuesincludingthosearisingin thetreatmentenvironment.

12.Attend and participatein monthly TA meeting,multidisciplinary/all staffmeetings as assigned and regular supervisionalongwithin-service andother assigned trainings.

13.Workcollaboratively with patient and multi-disciplinary teams,under supervision,to provide care based on patient's uniqueneeds,strengths,valuesandpreferences.

14.Pathwaysprovides multiplelevels ofcare;every staffmember has a role inour patients'successand staff maybe asked toworkinotherareasofadmissionortreatmentasneeded.

Educational/ExperienceRequirements:

RequiredMinimumEducation.Theminimumlevelof education for this position includes:High schooldiploma or equivalentrequired; a college degree in behavioral health or human services is strongly preferred. Requiresgeneral understandingofsubstanceuse disorders andawarenessthatpatients may haveco-occurringmentalhealth issues.

RequiredMinimumExperience: One year ofworkexperience required; work experiencein behavioral healthorpersonal recoveryexperience(minimumoftwoyears personalrecovery) strongly preferred.  Two to four college level behavioral health internships may substitute on a 1:1 basis for up to two years work experience; Pathways internships strongly preferred.

RequiredLicense/Certifications:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through approved Luminis Health system required within 30 days of hire. Valid Maryland driver's license and driving record with no more than two points.

Exerting up to50poundsofforce occasionally,and/or up to 30 pounds of forcefrequentlyto move objects, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Flexibilitytoworkoccasionallyoutside normaldaytimeworkhours.

Must be abletoobserveand note patient behaviorsas needed includingduring groupactivities.

Must be able to heartypicalenvironmentalsounds including during background noise.

Canunderstand andoperatefromtheconceptual basisoftasksandactivities.

Abilityto movetablesand chairs forsetting up roomsfor counseling.

There is reasonableexpectationthatemployeesinthis positionwill beexposedto blood-bornepathogens.
