Your future team:
We are seeking ahighly capable Senior EC&I Engineer to support and lead engineering activities across a diverse portfolio ofDefence work packages.
This role spans thefull engineering lifecycle — from early requirements and concept development through todetailed design, technical governance and assurance.
As aSenior EC&I Engineer, you will workindependently with minimal supervision, lead small discipline teams, support and mentor engineers, and take responsibility for producinghigh-quality engineering outputs. You will be central to shaping technical solutions, ensuring designs aresafe, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned withclient and regulatory expectations.
Your missions:
🔹 DevelopEC&I and control system concepts from requirements through to detailed design
🔹 Applysystematic engineering methods to ensure safe, compliant and cost-effective designs
🔹 Producetechnical solutions with minimal supervision, meeting client and project needs
🔹 Use strongEC&I engineering knowledge and awareness of relevant technologies
🔹 Apply applicablestandards and regulations, includingBS 7671 andLVD
🔹 Identify, assess and mitigatedesign risks across the engineering lifecycle
🔹 Considerenvironmental impacts in design and implementation decisions
🔹 Supportverification, validation and technical substantiation activities
🔹 Build trust and maintainstrong stakeholder relationships
🔹 Collaborate effectively withmultidisciplinary engineering teams
🔹 Mentor and supportjunior engineers in developing their skills
🔹 Promotegood engineering practice, process adherence and professional standards
🔹 Check and verifyengineering work produced by others

Experience/Qualifications:
✅ Adegree in Electrical, Instrumentation or Control Engineering, orHNC/HND with substantial relevant experience
✅ A minimum ofthree years’ experience at Engineer grade or in an equivalent role
✅Membership of a relevant institution (IET, IMC) and working towardsChartered status
✅ Strong experience deliveringEC&I engineering in detailed design environments
✅ Proven ability toindependently develop EC&I technical solutions meeting client and regulatory requirements
✅ Experiencesupervising others, providing technical oversight and leading small engineering teams
✅ Ability tocheck and review engineering work produced by others
✅ Strongcommunication skills, engaging effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
✅ Commitment toprofessional development and supporting others to grow their skills
Desirable Experience/Qualifications:
✨ Machinery design compliant with theSupply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 (Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC)
✨ Experience withnuclear safety cases and classification ofStructures, Systems and Components
✨ Experience withFunctional Safety Standards
✨ Experience working onBIM-enabled projects
✨ Knowledge offront-end safety system design, including legislation, standards and activities such asFMECA, HAZOP and HAZID
✨ Knowledge ofelectrical systems design, including calculations andEMC assessment
✨ Experience ofsoftware, hardware or embedded programming for machinery and process plant control
✨ Knowledge ofinstrumentation design techniques
✨ Experience withobsolescence management
