Job Title: Recreational Therapist
Department: PRLC Activities
Location: Wegman's Family Cottages, 1555 Long Pond Rd, Cottage 200
Hours Per Week: 37.5 Hours per week
Schedule: Monday - Friday 11:30a-7:00p - weekend rotation
ATTRIBUTES
- Experience in the field of geriatrics or activity programming preferred, new graduates will be considered

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Activity Development. Lead or co-lead therapeutic recreation programs according to monthly calendar and staffing schedule; formulate monthly recreation calendar, offering programs in accordance with resident needs and interests; maintain up to date records of resident’s attendance and participation in programs; invite and escort residents to programs
- General Management.Perform daily/weekly/monthly duties of: newspaper, birthday and calendar deliveries; manage program/department spaces and equipment set up/clean up, etc.; purchase, maintain and gather equipment and supplies
- Leadership. Train and supervise students and volunteers as appropriate; communicate with residents, staff, volunteers and family members

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
