Cornerstone Support Services, Inc. is seeking a friendly, dependable, and organized Receptionist to help callers and visitors connect with the right people.
Cornerstone provides support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In this administrative role, you will provide telephone reception for the entire company and welcome visitors at our Mechanicsville office, which houses the residential office serving Mechanicsville and New Kent and our Day Support program.
You will report to the CAO and provide light clerical support while keeping timely phone and visitor reception your priority.
What you’ll do
- Answer calls from people requesting live assistance through our automated phone system and direct them to the appropriate staff member.
- Receive unanswered calls forwarded from our thrift store.
- Take accurate messages and promptly communicate urgent concerns.
- Welcome visitors, determine the purpose of their visit, and notify the appropriate staff.
- Maintain visitor sign-in procedures and direct visitors to approved areas.
- Answer general questions about Cornerstone and connect people with staff who can help with employment, billing, programs and services, or thrift store questions.
- Protect confidential information and help arrange private conversations when needed.
- Receive and distribute mail and deliveries, process outgoing mail, and assist with copying, scanning, data entry, and filing.
- Keep reception organized, monitor supplies, and report office equipment problems.
- Prepare routine letters, memos, and forms and assist with other clerical tasks as time permits.
What we’re looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Reception, office, or customer service experience preferred.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- A patient, respectful approach to people with varying communication abilities.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage interruptions.
- Comfort using email, Microsoft Office, telephone systems, copiers, and scanners.
- Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and recognize when to ask for assistance.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a cooperative attitude.
