U004 - Design Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) Engineer

In ALTEN we are looking for anRWD Concept Engineer to drive the feasibility and design ofrear-wheel drive systems for electric vehicles. You will evaluateFWD vs. RWD trade-offs, design rear axles, and ensure integration with suspension, chassis, and battery systems. This role is critical for defining the vehicle’s traction architecture and requires astrong analytical mindset andcross-functional collaboration.

🔧 Key Responsibilities:

• Leadfeasibility studies for RWD vs. FWD configurations, includingaxle durability, shaft angles, and packaging constraints.
• Developdetailed designs for rear axles, half-shafts, and driveline components.
• Collaborate withchassis, thermal, and battery teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Createdecision-support materials (trade-off matrices, risk assessments) for leadership reviews.
• Documentassumptions, interfaces, and dependencies to guide engineering decisions.
• Supportprototyping and testing of RWD concepts.

✅ Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience indriveline, axle, or vehicle architecture design (automotive/EV preferred).
• Expertise in CATIA V5/3DEXPERIENCE (mandatory for 3D modeling and assembly).
• Experience withdriveline simulation tools (AVL Cruise, CarSim) anddurability analysis.
• Stronganalytical and problem-solving skills for complex engineering trade-offs.
• Fluent English (technical writing and presentation skills).
• Management skills: Ability to lead small teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and manage project timelines.
