React Native Mobile Developer Lead

The Role

UST is searching for a React Native Mobile Developer Lead to own the architecture and delivery of our customer-facing mobile app, which powers ordering, rewards, and loyalty for guests across the country. You’ll lead a team of mobile engineers, including across time zones, set technical direction, and stay hands-on in the codebase.

You’ll work closely with product, design, backend, and store operations teams to ship features that get used during busy morning rushes.

What You’ll Do

·Lead design and implementation of a cross-platform React Native application for iOS and Android

·Write production code daily, including features, native modules, and tooling, and contribute to the team’s coding standards

·Define and maintain mobile architecture, including navigation, state management, offline behavior, and native module integration

·Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes for app store releases and phased rollouts

·Lead remote engineering teams across time zones, setting clear priorities, communicating decisions, and unblocking work asynchronously

·Mentor and grow mobile engineers through code reviews, pairing, and regular 1:1s

·Partner with product and design to translate business goals into scoped, testable technical plans

·Monitor app performance and stability, and drive improvements in startup time, crash rates, and responsiveness

·Make pragmatic build-versus-buy decisions for SDKs and third-party services, such as payments, analytics, and push notifications

·Participate in hiring, interviewing, and onboarding of engineers

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What You Need

·4+ years of hands-on React Native experience building production applications

·4+ years of native mobile development experience on iOS or Android

·Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript, including modern React patterns such as hooks and component architecture

·Proficiency in either Swift or Kotlin for native module development and debugging

·Working knowledge of state management libraries such as Redux, Zustand, or React Query

·Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automating mobile build, test, and deployment processes

·Experience leading or mentoring engineers, formally as a lead or informally through senior IC work

·Ability to work in the US Mountain Time zone

·Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience leading remote or distributed teams

·Ability to pass a live coding assessment as part of the interview process

·Preferred Qualifications

·Experience writing bridge code in Kotlin or Swift for React Native integrations

·Experience publishing NPM libraries

·Public GitHub or other code repositories we can review

·Experience with the React Native New Architecture (Fabric and TurboModules)

·Background in restaurant, hospitality, retail, or high-traffic consumer apps

·Experience with payment flows, loyalty programs, or real-time order tracking

Location & Compensation

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Atlanta, Georgia / Denver, Colorado

Compensation Range:$118,000-$177,000
