Electrical Supervisor

Purpose of the Role

The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all electrical works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest quality standards across domestic and commercial projects. The role combines office-based management with regular site inspections, with a strong emphasis on maintaining compliance, supporting operational teams, and ensuring client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Report regularly to the Electrical Manager, providing daily or weekly updates as required.
  • Review, verify, and approve electrical certification, including EICRs, EICs, and Fire Alarm Installation Certificates.
  • Register projects with Building Control and ensure all statutory requirements are met.
  • Review and monitor subcontractor certification and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct weekly site audits of both directly employed and subcontracted engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineers, site teams, and operational management.
  • Produce accurate monthly electrical performance and compliance reports for clients.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, including GDPR requirements.
  • Support other departments across the business as required.
  • Supervise and coordinate direct employees and subcontractor teams to ensure works are completed to the highest standards and within client expectations.
  • Split time effectively between office-based duties and regular site visits to oversee project delivery.
  • Prioritise site inspections to ensure works remain fully compliant with current regulations and company standards.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Act as an ambassador for the company's vision, values, and strategic objectives.
  • Contribute positively towards achieving business goals and performance targets.
  • Demonstrate company values in all interactions with colleagues, clients, customers, contractors, and members of the public.

Business Development

  • Maintain awareness of all services provided by the company.
  • Identify and report opportunities for additional works or business growth.
  • Recommend improvements that enhance service delivery and support future business opportunities.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Monitor and audit operational sites to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and company procedures.
  • Escalate health and safety concerns promptly to the Electrical Manager and SHEQ Team.
  • Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the company's audit programme.
  • Ensure all engineers operate safely and in accordance with industry standards and client requirements.

Team Leadership

  • Support and mentor junior colleagues to aid their professional development.
  • Promote high standards of workmanship, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating excellent timekeeping, organisation, and attention to detail.
  • Manage issues and complaints professionally, ensuring positive outcomes for clients and stakeholders.

Administration & Reporting

  • Submit weekly reports to the Electrical Manager.
  • Maintain and update engineer qualification and competency records.
  • Ensure accurate project records, reports, and certification documentation are maintained.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational performance metrics.

Person Specification

Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an Electrical Supervisor role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical legislation, regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Experience in auditing, compliance monitoring, and certification review.
  • Competent in data analysis, reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Good understanding of administration processes, reporting methods, and KPIs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and certification software such as EasyCert or Click.

Qualifications

  • ECS Card or CSCS Card.
  • Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671:2018) - 2382-18.
  • Level 3 Inspection & Testing Qualification (2391, 2394/2395 or equivalent).
  • Asbestos Awareness Certification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
