Role:
The role of the Ranch Associate at Liliuokalani Trust Ranch is to support the Ranch manager maintain a clean, safe, and overall efficient operation of the ranch facilities, grounds, and animals. All while promoting a positive environment for kamalei, families, teammates, and guests. This position includes maintaining and repairing facilities and fences, landscaping duties, plumbing repairs, youth program support, and animal care.

Essential Responsibilities
- Facility and Grounds:
- Support with all groundskeeping. Checking property fences, water troughs and performing repairs, if necessary.
- Coordinates with Manager of Ranch Facilities to maintain approximately 4 acres of landscaping, LT Ranch Facilities, LT Ranch infrastructure, and LT Ranch equipment and tools.
- Identify and move any hazards that present themselves on LT Ranch grounds.
- Ensure irrigation lines and timers are running correctly and performs repairs if needed.
- Responds to accident and trouble calls involving fence lines, water lines, equipment, or animals.
- General cleaning of houses and areas around facilities.
- Scheduling and supporting with mowing, weed trimming, blowing leaves, and spraying herbicide.
- Maintaining small engine equipment, tools, and equine tack.
- Supports with upkeep of LT Ranch vehicles, UTV’s and ATV’s, etc.

General Administration:
- Supports with compliance to OSHA/HIOSH regulations.
- May assist with firefighting duties on LT Property
- Supports youth program elements such as aina, animals, and art. Assists programs when needed.
- Contributes to the LT’s success by accepting new assignments, helping team members , learning new skills, and striving to improve team.
- Supports with security duties, including but not limited to patrolling property, inspecting property access points, setting alarm systems, and cameras. Reporting any suspicious activity  on LT property.

Animal Care:
- Supports with overall care of LT Ranch Animals. (Horses, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, etc)
- Support with feeding animals 7 days a week, twice a day.Â
- Inspects water troughs, fence lines, gates, and pastures for any potential hazards.
- Daily log of animal care.

Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent plus five (5) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
- Experience with facility maintenance, groundskeeping and irrigation systems.
- Experience in caring for ranch animals to include horses, pigs, goats, etc. Demonstrates capacity to care for the animals and property in a nurturing and responsive way
- Flexible schedule: must be on call for any property and/or animal emergencies.Â
- Valid Driver's license with a driving record that meets organization’s standards, required. Experience in driving and reversing horse/utility trailers and hauling animals.  Â
- Working knowledge of safety codes, OSHA, EPA, state health regulations, hazardous materials, laws pertaining to the workplace environment and emergency preparedness preferred.
- Experience with Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, needed.
- CDL, CPR, & First Aid certified preferred. Specialized training or formalized apprenticeship program; i.e. automotive, carpentry, building construction, electrical, plumbing, and welding preferred.Â
