Salary Range: $70,310- $80,000

DCS is seeking a skilled Engineering Technician to performs non-routine, complex technical assignments in support of engineering, test, maintenance, and ordnance-handling activities. This position applies established engineering principles, operational precedents, and technical procedures to complete assigned portions of broader engineering efforts.

The Engineering Technician receives technical direction from a supervisor or engineer and performs work that is reviewed for technical adequacy and conformance with instructions. The position will regularly interact with engineers, technicians, and other professionals across the organization.

Essential Job Functions:

The Engineering Technician may perform one or more of the following duties:

Develop or review engineering designs by extracting, organizing, and analyzing engineering data.

Apply conventional engineering practices to prepare or support the development of:Detailed circuit diagrams

Hardware fittings and test equipment involving multiple mechanisms

Conventional piping systems

Building or site layouts

Schematics, electrical drawings, specifications, and parts lists

Conduct tests and experiments requiring the selection, adaptation, or modification of critical test equipment and procedures.

Set up, operate, calibrate, and maintain specialized radiographic and testing equipment.

Record test data, identify and document technical problems, analyze results, and prepare test reports.

Apply established methods to assigned segments of research and development projects.

Construct, test, evaluate, and modify experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements.

Support redesign efforts based on test results, engineering direction, and operational findings.

Perform radiographic inspection activities in accordance with applicable procedures, certifications, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Perform minor troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of small mechanical components.

Safely move and handle ordnance using authorized equipment and procedures.

Conduct general bay cleanup, routine facility maintenance, and other activities required to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.

Support additional engineering, maintenance, testing, and logistics tasks assigned.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

An Associates with at least 5+ years of practical technical experience in laboratory testing, manufacturing, maintenance, or a related technical environment such as drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.

Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when it provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples include:

Planner or estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.

Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or developmental work on fabricated devices.

At minimum, current American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level I Radiography certification.

Ability to obtain and maintain certifications required by applicable branch SOPs.

Valid explosive hauler’s license for moving ordnance on station.

Valid explosive crane license for ordnance handling.

Current forklift certification for equipment up to 6,000 pounds.

Demonstrated ability to operate and calibrate specialized radiographic and testing instrumentation.

Ability to perform minor mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.

Ability to work safely in industrial, laboratory, maintenance, and ordnance-support environments.

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate a blend of deep technical expertise, leadership capability, and rigorous attention to safety and quality standards.

Desired Skills: 

National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certification.

Experience supporting nondestructive testing, radiography, ordnance operations, or weapons-system maintenance.

Experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and parts lists.

Familiarity with test documentation, data analysis, technical reporting, and quality control procedures.
