R&D Testing Engineer

Job Description:

The R&D Testing Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, testing, evaluation, and validation ofcosmetic and personal care products. This position conducts laboratory testing, evaluates raw materials and finished products, supports production trials, investigates product issues, and works closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Production teams to ensure products meet establishedquality, safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.

Role Responsibilities:

• Conduct physical and physicochemical testing of cosmetic and personal care products, includingviscosity, pH, density, texture/rheology, color, appearance, odor, melting point/slip point, spread ability, and other applicable product characteristics.
• Develop and perform testing protocols forproduct stability, compatibility, and performance.
• Conduct and monitorreal-time and accelerated stability studies, document results, and identify potential formulation or stability issues.
• Evaluateraw materials, bulk products, finished products, and production batches against approved specifications and standards.
• Supportfirst production, pilot batches, and scale-up trials, and identify potential formulation, process, or quality risks.
• Conduct and supportpackaging compatibility and seal integrity testing, including product/package interaction, leakage, container closure integrity, and dispensing performance.
• Investigate product testing abnormalities, includingcolor, texture, viscosity, stability, appearance, and other physical or chemical characteristics, and support root-cause investigations.
• Work closely withR&D, Quality, Regulatory, Production, and external laboratories to coordinate microbiological, safety, dermatological, and other specialized testing.
• Analyze test results and preparetechnical reports, test summaries, and recommendations.
• Support the evaluation offormulation changes, raw material changes, manufacturing process changes, and production deviations through appropriate testing.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records, test methods, and laboratory documentation in accordance with company procedures andGood Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Support applicablecosmetic regulatory and testing requirements in Mexico, including COFEPRIS requirements.
• Maintain accurate and complete laboratory records and ensure testing is performed according to approved procedures and specifications.
• The responsibilities mentioned may vary and be increased based on the instructions of the Company's directors according to the Company's needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cosmetic Science, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in cosmetic, personal care, pharmaceutical, chemical, or related product testing or R&D.
• Hands-on experience withlaboratory testing and analytical equipment.
• Experience incosmetic physical and physicochemical testing.
• Experience withstability testing, product evaluation, raw material testing, and production batch evaluation.
• Experience withpackaging compatibility and seal integrity testing, including leakage, container closure integrity, and dispensing performance.
• Stronganalytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify potential causes of product or process issues.
• Familiarity with relevantindustry standards and regulations, including NOM, ISO, ASTM, and applicable cosmetic regulatory requirements.
• Experience withstatistical analysis software such as Minitab or JMP.
• Knowledge ofcosmetic testing and regulatory requirements in Mexico, including applicable COFEPRIS requirements.
• Proficiency inMicrosoft Office, particularly Excel, for data recording and analysis.
• Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
