Site Supervisor - The Palms Shopping Centre

The Role

As Site Supervisor, you’ll provide visible, hands-on leadership across the site—maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming experience for customers, retailers, contractors, visitors and staff. You will coordinate day-to-day security coverage, respond to incidents, and ensure client requirements, company procedures, and health and safety standards are consistently met.

You’ll build strong working relationships with centre management, key stakeholders and emergency services, bringing calm judgement and clear communication in a busy public environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead, support and supervise security personnel across The Palms Shopping Centre.

• Ensure the team maintains a professional, visible and approachable security presence throughout the site.

• Coordinate daily operations including patrols, access control, incident response and site coverage.

• Run shift briefs and complete effective handovers to ensure continuity of service.

• Monitor attendance, presentation, performance and compliance with site procedures.

• Respond promptly and professionally to alarms, emergencies, suspicious activity and requests for assistance.

• Support responses to theft, unauthorised access, disruptive behaviour and safety concerns.

• Collaborate with centre management, retailers, contractors and emergency services.

• Monitor CCTV, radios, access control systems and other security technology as required.

• Complete accurate incident reports, daily activity reports, patrol logs and other operational documentation.

• Escalate incidents and hazards appropriately and follow through to resolution.

• Identify and report maintenance issues, security risks, hazards and opportunities for improvement.

• Support emergency response, evacuation, first aid and health and safety procedures when required.

• Coach and develop team members through feedback, guidance and on-the-job support.

• Maintain confidentiality and comply with company policies, client requirements and privacy obligations.

What you’ll bring

• A current and valid New Zealand Certificate of Approval (COA) security licence, or eligibility to obtain one.

• Previous experience in a security supervisory, team leader or senior security role.

• Experience in retail, shopping centre or other public-facing security environments is advantageous.

• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships.

• The ability to remain calm, professional and decisive in sensitive or challenging situations.

• Good observation, problem-solving, decision-making and incident management skills.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a busy environment.

• Comfortable using radios, CCTV, access control systems, reporting platforms and other security equipment.

• Professional presentation, high integrity and respect for confidentiality.

• Reliable, punctual and committed to consistently delivering high standards.

• Physically capable of standing, walking and conducting regular patrols for the duration of a shift.

• A clean criminal record and the ability to pass pre-employment screening checks.

• Eligible to work in New Zealand and 18 years or older.

• Availability to work rostered shifts, including mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
