QA Engineer (Manual & Automation Testing) Location: Mechanicsburg, PA Work Arrangement: Hybrid in Mechanicsburg, PA; onsite schedule to be confirmed; local or willing-to-relocate candidates only Schedule: 8 hours/day Interview: Virtual Contract: 6-12 months beginning Nov 9, 2026; estimated end window May 8-Nov 8, 2027 Visas Accepted: USC, GC Role Overview Our client is seeking a QA Engineer to support software quality assurance through structured manual testing, automated regression testing, API validation, and defect lifecycle management. The position requires experience with TFS or Azure DevOps, a strong foundation in software testing methodologies, and the ability to validate application functionality and backend data integrity. This hybrid position is based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and is open to local candidates or those willing to relocate. A six-month right-to-hire provision is identified for this opportunity; conversion to permanent employment is not guaranteed. Primary Responsibilities • Design, author, and execute detailed manual test cases and test suites to validate software functionality, usability, and end-to-end performance. • Manage the testing lifecycle in TFS or Azure DevOps, including test plan creation, bug tracking, and linking defects to user stories for traceability. • Maintain and execute automated test scripts covering core regression paths, ensuring reliability throughout release cycles. • Document clear, reproducible defect reports and collaborate with development teams to isolate problems, troubleshoot issues, and verify corrections. • Perform backend API testing to validate data integrity, endpoint responses, and system integration logic. Required Technical Skills • Professional experience in a QA Engineer, Software Test Engineer, or comparable software quality assurance role. • Practical expertise designing and executing structured manual tests, particularly functional, exploratory, and regression testing. • Experience maintaining and running automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress. • Hands-on experience with TFS or Azure DevOps as a primary test management and defect tracking platform. • Advanced capability using TFS or Azure DevOps Test Plans, Queries, and Work Items. • Familiarity with UI automation tools such as Selenium and Playwright. • Foundational knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language used for test automation, such as C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript. • Experience verifying RESTful or SOAP APIs using SoapUI, Postman, or similar tools. • Ability to write basic SQL queries to verify backend data changes and system state integrity. • Thorough understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile/Scrum processes. Education • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related technical field, or equivalent practical work experience. Preferred Qualifications • Experience using AI tools to support software testing activities. • Experience working with Workers' Compensation applications.
