Role Description:
Job Description – QA Automation Engineer Role Overview
The QA Automation Engineer designs, implements, manages, maintains, and continuously improves automated testing capabilities for the IAM/IGA platform, with a focus on solutions that interact with SailPoint IdentityIQ and surrounding extension components (Spring + Angular). The role ensures secure, reliable, and auditable IAM deliveries by building repeatable, automated quality controls across the SDLC.The QA Automation Engineer works closely with IAM engineers, developers, operations, and security to translate requirements into test strategies and automated test suites covering critical IAM processes such as Joiner/Mover/Leaver, access request/fulfillment, certifications, integrations, and reporting outputs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Test Strategy & Quality Engineering
• Define and maintain an automated test strategy for IAM deliveries (risk-based testing, regression scope, test data strategy, environment strategy).
• Translate functional, security, and compliance requirements into test cases with clear acceptance criteria and measurable coverage.
2. Test Automation Development
• Build and maintain automated tests across layers, including:
o Integration and unit tests for services, workflows, and integrations (JUnit, Postman)
o UI tests (Selenium)
o End-to-end tests for key IAM scenarios such as JML, requests/approvals, provisioning outcomes (Selenium, Cucumber)
• Implement robust automation patterns: reusable frameworks, reliable reporting.
• Create and maintain test data for realistic scenarios across environments.
3. Performance & Load Testing
• Design and execute performance and load tests for critical IAM transactions
• Model realistic load profiles, analyze bottlenecks, and validate scalability and stability under expected and peak volumes.
• Establish performance baselines, define non-functional requirements (response times, throughput, error rate), and track trends over time.
• Work with developers and operations to troubleshoot performance issues (application behavior, API performance, database interaction patterns, connector behavior, job scheduling impacts).
4. CI/CD Integration & Quality Gates
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD) with clear pass/fail criteria.
• Implement quality controls such as:
o Minimum test coverage expectations
o Automated regression execution for releases
o Test result publishing and trend reporting
• Collaborate on branching strategy, code review checks, artifact versioning (e.g., JFrog), and code quality gates (e.g., SonarQube).
Qualifications & Experience
• 5+ years experience in test automation engineering
• Hands-on experience with Selenium, Postman, JUnit, k6 or comparable testing tools.
• Proven ability to build automation frameworks and maintain reliable regression suites.
• Experience with CI/CD integration (e.g., GitLab pipelines) and automated test reporting.
• Solid understanding of software quality practices: test design, test lifecycle, test environments, and release validation.
• Exposure to IAM/IGA processes and familiarity with SailPoint IdentityIQ or other IAM platforms is of advantage.
