Role Overview

We are looking for experiencedPython Backend Engineers to work on an API migration initiative. The role involves migrating existing REST APIs from aNuclio/Iguazio serverless environment to Python + FastAPI microservices running on Kubernetes, while maintaining functional and API contract parity with the existing services.

The engineer will work closely with the technical lead, QA, client SMEs, and platform teams to understand existing implementations, migrate business logic, integrate with existing backend systems, and validate the migrated services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Analyze existing Nuclio-based REST APIs, handlers, business logic, and dependencies.
2. Migrate API business logic toPython/FastAPI microservices.
3. Maintain functional and API contract parity with existing services.
4. Work with existing shared libraries/SDKs and FastAPI frameworks.
5. Integrate APIs with backend systems and data stores.
6. Implement request validation, error handling, authentication/entitlement logic, and API transformations.
7. Develop unit and integration tests for migrated services.
8. Perform API contract and functional validation against existing services.
9. Troubleshoot application, integration, and performance issues.
10. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and design reviews.
11. Prepare API/OpenAPI documentation and operational handover documentation.
12. Follow established coding, CI/CD, security, and development standards.

Required Technical Skills

Must Have

1. Strong experience inPython backend development.
2. Hands-on experience withFastAPI or similar Python REST frameworks.
3. Strong understanding ofREST APIs, API contracts, JSON/XML, HTTP methods, and status codes.
4. Experience developingmicroservices and migrating/refactoring existing applications.
5. Strong understanding of unit and integration testing using frameworks such asPyTest.
6. Experience working with one or more databases such as:
7. MongoDB
8. Cassandra
9. Elasticsearch / Solr
10. SQL/NoSQL databases
11. Experience with asynchronous programming/concurrency in Python.
12. Good understanding ofDocker and Kubernetes environments.
13. Experience with Git-based development and CI/CD pipelines.
14. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have

1. Experience withNuclio, Iguazio, V3IO, or other serverless platforms.
2. Experience working withKafka/event-driven architectures.
3. Experience withNFS/HDFS/S3 or distributed file systems.
4. Experience with API gateways such asKong.
5. Experience with authentication, authorization, RBAC, or entitlement frameworks.
6. Experience with performance testing and API benchmarking.
7. Experience with observability, logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
8. Experience working withOpenAPI/Swagger.
