BUILDER WANTED. Purchasing Manager
Not just a Purchasing Manager. A Builder.
You build the connections that keep projects moving. Between material takeoffs and deliveries, suppliers and production schedules, cost and quality, you make sure the right materials are in the right place at the right time.
At Stanton Millworks, we’re looking for a Purchasing Manager who takes ownership of the procurement process, builds strong supplier relationships, stays ahead of potential shortages and delays, and understands how smart purchasing decisions impact every project.
A Legacy of Building Careers
Stanton Millworks is a premier cabinetmaking and architectural woodworking shop in the tri-state area, with more than 80 years of growth built on repeat and referral business.
We believe exceptional craftsmanship comes from working with people who share our values and passion for quality. We recognize that our employees are more than professionals—they’re individuals with families, hobbies, and full lives beyond work. That’s why we emphasize balance, supporting both professional growth and personal fulfillment.
Our culture is rooted in celebrating accomplishments together, fostering collaboration, and making a lasting impact on our clients and community. Full-time positions at Stanton Millworks include generous paid time off, competitive salaries, and a supportive environment where your voice is valued and your contributions matter.
What You’ll Build
-
Own the purchasing process from submittals and material takeoffs through purchase orders, delivery, and project completion.
-
Ensure materials are ordered accurately, cost-effectively, and on time to support project and production schedules.
-
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships while negotiating pricing and delivery terms, obtaining quotes, and resolving supply chain issues.
-
Track lead times and material availability, expedite critical orders, and proactively address potential delays or shortages.
-
Manage inventory levels, reorder points, and stock replenishment using purchasing and inventory software, including Kojo.
-
Collaborate with Estimating, Project Management, Engineering, Production, Accounting, and Receiving to keep projects moving smoothly.
-
Identify cost-saving opportunities and monitor material pricing trends to help protect project profitability without compromising quality or schedule requirements.
-
Research and coordinate approved material substitutions when necessary, ensuring changes meet company and project requirements.
-
Help create a reliable flow of information, materials, and resources between suppliers and the teams responsible for delivering Stanton’s work.
Qualifications
What You Bring
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
5-10 years of relevant experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, construction, manufacturing, or millwork, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
-
Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
-
Experience with Bluebeam, Kojo, or similar purchasing and inventory management software.
-
Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
-
Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred.
-
Experience in wood products, millwork, cabinetry, or manufacturing, including hands-on experience in a production or shop floor environment, is preferred.
-
General knowledge of construction operations and project workflows is preferred.
The Bottom Line
Great craftsmanship depends on more than what happens in the shop. It starts with having the right materials, reliable partners, accurate information, and someone who is always thinking a few steps ahead.
This role is for someone who wants to take ownership of a critical part of Stanton’s operation. You’ll help keep production moving, strengthen supplier relationships, control costs, and give teams what they need to deliver successful projects.
We’re not looking for someone to simply place purchase orders. We’re looking for someone who builds relationships, anticipates needs, solves problems, and understands how every purchasing decision contributes to the finished product.
If that sounds like you, let’s build something great together.
