Wenger Corporation | Texas Scenic is seeking motivated Punch Operators to help drive our success! In this role, you will provide an exceptional customer experience by performing operation of metal fabrication equipment while working under limited supervision within assigned areas in a manner which meets or exceeds established quality and quantity standards.
We are seeking aPunch Operatorto join our manufacturing team inSan Antonio, Texas!
Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Machine Setup, Operation & Programming
- Set up, adjust, and operate metal fabrication machinery—including CNC press brakes, punch presses, hydraulic ironworkers, drill presses, grinders, saws, spot welders, tube benders, shears, laser cutters, turret punches, CNC sheet folders, and roll-forming units.
- Perform programming and/or program modifications for press brakes and other CNC-controlled equipment as required.
- Maintain dies, punches, and related tooling to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Recommend tooling, fixtures, and process adjustments needed to complete tasks effectively.
Technical Execution & Quality Control
- Follow blueprints, standard work procedures, and work instructions to produce accurate and consistent parts.
- Conduct in-process and final quality checks on fabricated parts, making necessary adjustments or seeking guidance when needed.
- Record quality assurance data accurately and adhere to all quality policies and documentation standards.
- Troubleshoot production or machine-related issues and collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to resolve problems.
Equipment Care, Maintenance & Monitoring
- Perform basic machine setup, cleaning, and preventative maintenance to keep equipment in safe operating condition.
- Monitor machine and tooling performance and promptly report irregularities or mechanical issues to supervision.
Production Support & Documentation
- Accurately record production data, complete required paperwork, and perform necessary computer transactions.
- Support downstream operations such as assembly or packing of finished goods as needed.
- Participate in cross-training to support workflow flexibility across departments.
Safety, Organization & Compliance
- Follow all company policies, shop safety rules, and OSHA requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in alignment with 5S and company safety standards.
Teamwork, Training & Continuous Improvement
- Work positively in team settings, valuing the input of others and contributing to shared success.
- Assist in training and mentoring new or less-experienced operators as directed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements
- 1 year of experience with power brakes and presses
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with solid basic math skills
- Comfortable using a variety of hand tools and precision measuring devices
- Willingness and ability to learn and perform multiple tasks within the work area
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team setting
- Proficient in navigating and using various computer systems and screens
It would be great if you also have:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and detailed work instructions
- Flexibility to adjust and plan work around changing schedules
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license
- Technical training or trade school certification
